Also, I don't see any problem with the above gear, doesn't look like abnormal wear and the contact pattern looks good. There is wear but looks absolutely normal to me.

Right, how many miles is the question.

The main item I'm being informed for severe use is going to 85-140 viscosity. The gear guys recommend dino stating synthetic offers no advantage for the cost. And again, this is east coast, and off road is their application specifically.

I'm not gonna play any more knowledgabe than that - you'll have to call them and ask.

Fair enough. I won't pretend I'm more knowledgable then Chase but eaton and dana and the like tend to suggest syn for the semis and there is something to that IMO.

80w-140 and 85w-140 are fairly common place for semis though, so I could see it'd be a good choice for extreme gear protection, maybe not so much for mileage and cold weather.

    I dunno. :notsure:

Just off the top of my head, from what I know about oils and chemistry, I'd agree there. I would think syns would be more consistent in all their characteristics.

Of course, a lot of syns are now just highly highly refined dino, so who knows? The line has certainly blurred a lot lately.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
I go by the seat os the pants and when you release the throttle the truck rolls real NICE! It felt like I was putting the brake on when releasing the throttle, before. It feels like a little extra spring in its step. I changed the diff and manual trans at 24,000 and WOW am I glad I did. The diff oil was filthy. The trans not so bad.
