Is the Taco about a 7/8 1/2 ton?
    800 lb. bed?

Tacoma's maximum payload is just over a half ton at 1370 lb...that leaves(assuming an even load) with approx 1000 lbs left for the bed.

Well then it is a 1/2 ton.
I did read a 800 lb. load for the bed and a weak tailgate; no specs..
I know that it is not a Power Wagon. I still have the 1974. But I have abused the heck out of it. I twisted the drive shafts like pasta. Spicer fixed that.
An IH Combine transfer case replaced stock which spun the front bearing.
I put three scoops of sand in it. And had the fun of changing out a u joint on the side of the road with poor tools.
I know the Taco is not up to that.
    But then neither am I.
