Hi, I have an ARE CX camper top and the plastic "flashing" piece at the bottom of the rear door has cracked and is sticking out. I called the ARE dealer and they want $50 for the piece. Although thats not terrible, I was wondering if anyone had ideas of how to do it myself? Its the piece that covers the junction between the tailgate and the door and its made out of some sort of brittle, molded black plastic. Where could I get such a piece? I'd have to drill out the rivets and re-rivet it myself, but thats no big deal. Any advice is appreciated.

If all you gotta do is drill out the rivets, then seems straight forward. use a drill stop though set on 1/4" or something shallow. Start small with the bit and work your way up till you find the right size, no need to drill the actual material.

Look online for one of these places near you.

    http://www.interstateplastics.com/

They carry all kinds of stuff and can probably provide something similar (even better).

I would buy the piece from a dealer or online and install it yourself. I wouldn't suggest fabbing something to work.

^^^I agree. For $50 its probably not worth your time. The results will be much better with the factory part.

Im all for projects and being cheap but I think that you would end up getting the factory part in the end.
