good luck with what? they in fact STOLE parts from his truck, even if the TSB for that year calls for replacing the shocks, the parts are still YOURS.

They don't replace the parts and let you keep the old ones

No way is the dealer going to write a cheque to the OP

Best they will do is correct the issue and install the shocks that should be in there

like hell they don't, I have kept rotors, old springs, shocks, wheels, tires, and even a door once after replaced by the dealership, they are your parts!, correct you might not get the labor and they will want to just put them back on, but I would check it over 110% before driving off that lot.

Well , they are not SUPPOSED to let you keep parts that are replaced under warranty

right, this is a warranty issue. It's different if you pay to get new shocks, springs etc.

My question is who makes a good set of leaf springs for a 2012 beside the factory ones?

I think that question would be better answered if the truck's application is known...will you be hauling rocks, towing a boat, desert racing across Baja....

there are several good companies that make springs such as Deaver, All Pro, Alcan, who else?

I talked to the service manager who ordered the parts for the TSB (he wasn't there yesterday when I got it done) said he looked over the work order this morning and saw they replaced the shocks when they weren't suppose to. He appologized and said they still have my original Bilsteins, so I will get those put back on this Saturday. I would have rather had it done right the first time, but I'm just happy they aren't being difficult with getting it corrected.

    Thanks again for everyone's help!

Actually, Tokiko's are a premium shock. In many cases, much better than Bilstiens. That being said, IIRC, the BLack shocks arent made by Tokiko anyway. The Tokiko's for the Tacoma are Red/black. (if memory serves )

No, not on a warranty swap. They are NOT your parts. You're getting free parts and Toyota wants the old parts back to verify the work was done and your parts are sometimes studied for recalls or TSBs for future information. The dealer does NOT put them on other vehicles they have or they don't get paid for the work they've done. If you PAY for parts that are replaced you absolutely can request them back. Warranty work is a completely different animal and the OP's Bilstiens are likely already on their way back to Toyota in the black shock's boxes for reimbursement.

OP, you have EVERY right to demand they put your shocks back on. If they no longer have them then they MUST replace the black shock's with new parts that were on when you came in. It will cost them to do so but it's their mistake and in business mistakes equal loss of time and money. Lesson learned.
