Question about Roll n Lock tonneau cover

Hey everyone,

New to the forum, as I finally purchased a 2012 Tacoma -- this after lusting after them since I was 16 years old (back in the mid-90's...).

I've really enjoyed reading the posts. There seems to be no shortage of good information and great folks on the site.

Down to business:

I'm interested in the Roll n Lock tonneau covers. I'd like to be able to make the bed at least semi-secure for my ski gear. My question is: when the cover is closed and locked does it prevent the tailgate from opening? (i.e. by purchasing the Roll n Lock, can I avoid having to also purchase and install a Pop and Lock?). I've done some reading in the forum and online, but can't seem to find a reliable answer, so any help would be much appreciated.

 

The Roll-n-Lock cover comes with an extruded channel that you must mount to the top, inside edge of the tailgate. When the cover is locked, it locks to the tailgate as well. Installation of this is optional. All other roll-top covers require a separate tailgate lock.

 

Yes, your tailgate is locked when the cover is closed and locked. I have had the same cover for 7 years (took it off my 05 xrunner and put on the new truck). I would not look anywhere else, the cover is great. I have zero complaints.

TAOScott - Thanks much for the info. Truck Add Ons picked up a new customer. Don't see why it wouldn't - but it can't hurt to make sure: will the '05-'11 DCSB Roll-n-Lock cover be compatible with my '12 model year DCSB Tacoma?

 

Yep, locks the tailgate and the 05-11 fits the 12(or at least on a DCLB it does).

 

How much space does the roll-n-lock take up at the front of the bed? I've got dirtbikes and am looking for a cover. Right now i'm looking at the bakflip g2, but i've just started researching them.

 

Just ordered my roll n lock with cargo divider. Just like the OP, I didn't want to use the Pop n Lock because I didn't want my camera angles skewed and also I've read its pretty shotty.
