I would like to remove the dealer emblem place on the left fender below the turn signal. what is the best way. If I can peel it off, will it leave a residue on the paint and what takes it off? thanks

If it leaves a residue you can use wd-40 to remove it

I just removed mine just an hour ago. They will leave a residue, I just use goo gone and then soap and water and waxed the spot. Looks great now, couldn't tell it was there.

For reference, you can just tell the dealership to get rid of that crap before you leave. Dealers will remove them.

Goo Gone is great stuff, I'd probably use that--but WD40 should work peachy too.

If there is one thing that burns my butt (beside a four foot flame)....it's those free advertisement stickers that dealers put on a vehicle.
One time I asked the salesman not to put that sticker on the car I just bought. He replied "I can't guarantee that it won't go on when they prep the car". I said fine, give me $25 for the free adverisement. The sticker never made it on the car.
First thing I do is pull the stupid thing off...if it's warm ouside in the sun they come off easy.
I figure that they made their money off me, I'm not advertising for them too !!

    I'm finished ranting now.

Take a hair dryer and heat up the decal. It should then rub right off. This is how I took mine off.

I generally ask to not even have the dealer plate surround on. The new Taco has one. I forgot to ask and have been too busy with mods to even bother removing it. Time to gut the interior for the stereo, but not enough time to remove and reinstall two screws. Durrr

I always remove the deals and plate surround the day I buy the vehicle.

The sticker should just come right off.

The Carmax sticker came off with just my fingernail. The residue came off with a damp microfiber towel. The dealer license frame became the dog's chew toy.

Be happy that 3M invented trim adhesive and automakers and dealers found out how cheap it is.

In the 60s, 70s, and maybe 80s, the dealer emblem was mounted the same way the factory emblems were mounted. Holes in the trunk lid, emblem put in place, secured with press-nuts on the inside.

Saw a lot with the emblems missing, and they very well may have been installed at the factory before the cars were delivered to the dealerships because the paint around the holes was not "touch up" quality... it was as smooth as the paint on the factory holes.

But nonetheless, debadging in those days meant welding and a repaint, or at the very least, some glass on the inside of the panel, bondo, and a repaint.
Ya... it was something generally only done when it was time for a new paint job.

Bought my truck on Wednesday. Forgot to tell them to remover it before I took delivery, then they wouldn't. I popped it off yesterday without issue. A little Goo Gone make quick work of left over residue.

We're lucky out here in SoCal.
They've never used the badges like I described above or the stick-on badges. If we get anything beyond a license plate frame, it's just a vinyl sticker on the rear window. One local dealer does logo hitch plugs instead.

But I always keep the dealer plastic plates. I put them under the state issued plates as a buffer on the paint.

Pretty rare to see a dealer emblem in Norcal too. Think CA people are pickyabout their cars and dealers just stopped doing it. Not cool to spenk 30k on a vehicle and end up with a cheap plastic advertising gimick glued to it.

I always remove the stickers on a new vehicle as soon as it comes home.

The other day I saw a brand new Lexus LS with the same crappy dealer badge that they put on Corrolas affixed to the trunk lid. Not even installed parallel to the factory badging and way out of place.

My first new car was a 1986 Monte Carlo SS. I remember telling the dealer NOT to drill holes in the front bumper/spoiler for a license plate bracket. Back then, Massachusetts did not require front plates. They did, and attached a dealer advertisement license plate to it. I was not pleased and complained. Never really got anywhere with the complaints but it made me remember on every car I have purchased since to get stuff like that in writing.

    Chris
