Lift spindles, 5100s, leaf packs, blocks

Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering if anyone has this sort of setup. It will be a long time coming, but I eventually want to get my Taco up around 6" without a fabtech, etc. lift. I'm thinking: Maxtrack 4" spindles and 5100s up front, Dakar leaf packs and blocks in the rear. Is anyone running this kind of setup. Gotta save the money up for a while so I just wanna make sure it's acheivable. Any input would be helpfull.

Yes, that lift setup is possible. But look into leaf packs rather than blocks.

 

I mentioned leaf pack with blocks because I can't stand having the rear sag. I want it level or even a touch high in the back. I'll check out those All-Pro Expos though.

 

The expos will give you 4" in the rear.

 

It's possible, it depends on what you want to spend and what the final usage will be. You could also do lift shackles to gain some height. They allow for better flex but also wear out the leaf pack quicker as a result. That being said, blocks will do the same thing, they wear out leaf packs quicker. They act as a torque block and give your axle that much more torque to apply to the leaf pack. This causes axle wrap and eventually premature wear.

The Expos are a pretty strong leaf pack. Like any spring, they'll eventually start to sag but they should resist it for a while depending on your driving conditions.

 

I thought you couldn't put lift shackles on the 2nd gens!?! I would have done that instead of blocks! Anyways, I do a lot of street driving. It's my daily driver. When I have the chance i love gettin her dirty though. I'd say off road runs once every two to three months.

IMO you should go with the 4" spindles with 5100's at 1.75" lift. This will get you close to 6" and you should not need new UCA's for alignment. For the rear, like others said, get the All-Pro expo leaf packs. If the rear is a little low for your liking with the expo's, do the shackle flip or a 1" block. The spindles come with new brake lines and you can get brake lines from All-pro for the rear. You will certainly need longer shocks for the rear.

Yep, you'd need a shackle flip for a second gen.

I believe you're correct, you'll need all that if you want to get to 6" of lift wiithout using a drop bracket lift. Although, I don't think you'll necessarily need new UCAs. You'll get 4" of lift from the spindles and you can go 2" of lift without needing the new UCAs unless there's something I'm unaware of when using a spindle lift...

 

I actually already have LR UCAs. Gonna put 'em on this friday. Next on the list is probably spindles. I do need better shocks though so maybe a set of 5100s. Where can I find info on the shackle flip? Or, if it's easy, what do I do? I wouldn't mind getting rid of the blocks I have in the rear. What are some good rear shocks for the shackle flip?
