I have a 2005 Tacoma with the broke motor mount also and it has been sitting since 09/08. I took it in to the dealer service dept and they told me the frame was bent and that I should take it to a body shop and have the frame straightened. So I took it in to my local body shop and they looked at it and said it isn't a bent frame the motor mount is bad. So I take it over to the mechanic in town and have them look at it and they throw it up on a lift and tell me to come take a look at it. I see the wonderful motor mount caved into the frame. GREAT! So over the next month I've been playing phone tag with my dealer's customer relations manager. She had me send all my info and pictures of the motor mount so I do and then she stops returning my phone calls. So I call up the lovely Toyota customer experience number and the lady tells me my truck is out of warranty and there isn't anything Toyota can do. So I call the dealer's main number and ask the lady that answered the phone if I could speak to a manager or someone that would talk to me about my truck. She sends me to the sales manager.
His solution was to trade my truck in and buy a new Tacoma. Yea like I'm going to buy another truck that's going to fall apart in 4 years. For those that have had the motor mount failure who have you been talking to and what have they be telling you? Oh yea mine has a build date of 12/04. Here's a picture of mine.

haha all i can do is laugh because you arent going to get anywhere with the dealership unless you're really lucky! They quoted me $10,000 for an entire frame swap F*** that! I went and got mine fixed for $250! I never jumped my truck but if i got the urge to now i would becaue I trust the fix that i got 100%! Sorry to hear about your mounts though man, been there done that, i can give you some more info on what I did, etc. but im not sure how much it would help

I just had mine reinforced on my 2006, same design as the 05s. Didn't want to take Toyota's bullshit when the mounts/frame failed, and didn't want to lose the use of my truck for any amount of time. Maybe someday I'll be able to get reimbursed by Toyota for the cost, but I won't hold my breath.

mine cost $250 to get mine beefed up! Mine failed completely on the drivers side and the weld was cracking on the passengers side. The welds in the pic are unpainted because it was right after I got the truck back, they were painted the next day to prevent rust. Here are the pics!:

Just to be clear, mine had not failed, but now I can be confident that they will not fail. I brought mine in to Irbis Offroad in CO, total was $550. However, they also put some coilovers on. They put two plates on passenger side and one on the driver side, they also painted it for me. They did a good job and were quick-- did it in one day. I may have been able to get it cheaper, but did not shop around at all. I just wanted it done right.

Yeah mine was done in one day too. He did just like i showed in the pics and how you had yours done. He did a 100% around all of it, including the top of the drivers side! Its a bitch to get in there but he did it somehow, he is good at what he does.

Yep, they only put one plate on the drivers side because it was difficult to get to. Not sure what they would've had to take out to get to it. I need to look under my truck when I get a chance.

yeah if they were to weld another one it might have the possibility of hitting the steering there so he didnt do it. I think my guy did an awesome job! Post some pics of yours dtacow! The more the merrier so people that have had this problem know what to do and know that it doesnt cost that much actually to get it fixed and if they paid more then us then they are paying too much.

Good idea, some peoples mounts may not fail but if you got a little extra cash and want to get it done to make s ure that they dont then I would definetly do it. Its well worth it mine have been holding excellent so far! Its too much of a headache to have to go through so just get it fixed before it breaks!

its a shame that we would have to worry about this on a toyota. i would expect this from a dodge or ford. its just aggervating(sp) that toyota is getting a bad rep now. hopefully they'll have a recall one day. if its not too late.

I looked at them when i was detailing my truck. I didnt see any "gaps" near the engine mounts but I'll look at the Manu. date and get back to ya.

theres a picture of the newer motor mounts on the first page of this thread. if its not like that, i would advise you to spend the couple hundred to prevent failure
