aftermarket scooped hood problem?

I bought a scooped hood of rockauto.com and the body shop just called me saying it was missing the scoop piece? He sent me a picture and here's what it looks like. Is this suppose to be right? Do I have to buy the insert?

 

What other parts would I need? Didn't think I would so that sucks. It doesn't need to be painted though right? That's what they were holding off on

 

x2, the insert parts are sold separately from the hood and run about $100 +/-.

 

I believe it is painted stock, but people have done them in black or carbon fiber for a different look.

Thanks guys. I'm sitting here at work waiting to get the truck back and its been almost a month and a half with all the speed bumps. Didn't think this would be an issue. Now that I think of it I thought they were all painted black. I dunno what I will do

 

I bought a sport hood and I guess the place I bought it off of don't sell the insert only avialiable at the dealer ship or online but the dealer was charging me 200 bucks just for insert included hardware plus mesh and anything that you need

 

Yup. Inserts are separate and must be bought from toyota. Its $130+ for 3 hood insert pieces.

 

Soooooooooo Toyota wants $240+ tax for the piece. WTF is their problem? Anyone know any other option?

 

Nope. That's a bit more than when the quoted me last year. When I had my hood replaced, my body shop said the raw hoods( scoop or non scoop) are the same price, the hood inserts is what makes the price different.

You can try a toyota salvage yard and get the pieces that way, or get the part # from the dealership and start googling it.

 

The scooped hood insert is all color-matched with the truck from the factory. I painted mine black though just to be a little different.

 

What color is your truck? Have them paint it as is. the plastic comes colormatched from Toyota. You can easily intsall it yourself later. Here:

Should cost you 150 ish shipped, not 240. You need the scoop (100), the insert (15) and the guide (15).

 

just get #6 & 8 you dont really need 7

 

get some wire mesh and do like satoshi type thing..its not like these scoops offer any functionality anyway

 

You could try Toyota Parts Cheap. The total for all three parts would be $140.25 before shipping.

welll they said it was "all one piece" and brought it up on the screen. So it was 240 for the piece and the gaskit

this is correct..... I just bought and installed all these parts. I paid 120 directly from the dealer who is a friend of mine. I picked them up tho and didnt have to worry about shipping. I can get u info if u like...

 

Less than 2 weeks. They use UPS, and you can expedite if you want to pay for it. They are really Mossy Toyota in San Diego, California. Seems most of the online Toyota parts sellers are really Toyota dealers.
