Water stain on seats !!??

so I had a water bottle laying on the passenger seat, apparently the lid was loose and water spilled on the seat. Thought to myself "wow, that sucks - oh well it will dry"

But it dried and left a stain mark (or two) on the passenger seat of my truck.

Question is: If water leaves stain marks on the seat ?!? What should I use to clean it... I mean it was literally bottled water (filtered, drinking water) and it stained the seat !!!!

I just dont want to use some carpet/interior cleaner that is going to make the situation worse....

 

You can treat it with steam. Might stain more tho.

Just get some seat covers

 

I don't think the water stained your seats, the water just created a stain using the dirt already on the seats. Use Spot Shot, or another type of carpet type of stain remover. Just follow the directions, and remember to test somewhere first to make sure it will not bleach the colour of the seats.

I used one of those deep cleaning carpet cleaners on my seats...worked wonders

 

^^^ This. You will feel better when you can see all the brown stuff getting sucked up in the nozzle, amazing how dirty they can get

The day before my seat covers came in..i did find a few small water stains from a trip i had just come back from. It was water..and there was no dirt in it..i tried to use some carpet cleaner but didnt change a thing..the next morning i put covers on it and said FU cheap toyota seatcovers.

 

i use hot- (well not too hot) distilled water on my stained seats, use gloves & be ready to wipe it with a clean cotton fab right away. rain spots, water spots all gone

 

I removed my seats from the car and cleaned them with a carpet cleaner and a ton of crap came out. Then threw on Wet Okoles and haven't looked back. Before then, I'd have the same troubles OP had. Scotchguard wasn't much help. I hated having to be so anal about my seats before I got the covers. Once our yorkie took a piss on the driver's seat and that was almost the dog's last day on earth. j/k. I was pretty damn pissed though.

 

I say get camouflage seat covers and never worry about stains again! The first thing I did when I got my Tacoma is threw on some neoprene seat covers. Hides the grime nicely. Best investment so far...

 

Mine were real bad, rear drivers side seat.

I used diluted purple power (maybe 15 or 20:1 with water), sprayed a mist until the whole seat was damp, let it sit for about 3-4 minutes, then sprayed with water until the seal was wet, slowly ran a wet dry vac over it in rows until it was just damp to the touch.

Let it air dry... looks like brand new. Not one hint of a stain!

I used to detail cars in high school, we used this trick from time to time.

 

Yup, it came out perfect per above...

Then wife's corolla got a nail in the tire, so I let her take the Taco to the beach on her day off.

She decided to put a leaking soft sided cooler on the rear seat.. Re-water stained the piss out of it.

5 days stain free
