Frontier VS Tacoma

Just for Laughs I steeped over to the dark side to see what the competors think of us, Even they realize we have the best TRUCK (well most of them)

Sounds like some lies going on over there. Is there even anyone on this site who has paid sticker? I know I paid invoice.

I too looked at the Taco when I was shopping. What I found was this:
Taco was waay more money for less equipment, we're talking 5k more for a truck with less options.
Taco has a plastic bed, umm, in a truck, no thanks.
Taco had very uncomfortable seats (IMHO)
Interior on the Taco was meh
Taco didn't feel nearly as nimble/quick/fast.
Taco just didn't feel like a truck, I mean, that is what you are buying.
Fit and finish was about on par, but the Fronty just impressed me more.

On the Tacoma site they are posting quite a few problems with the newer trucks

 

I am not harassing anyone for their choice. It is amusing to me their view, opinions and thoughts on our tacos, thought it might make some good conversation.

 

I had a 2003 frontier and I'd prefer my Tacoma over it any day.

 

I personally hate the look of the new frontiers.

Exactly! Thats what got me curious as to what the froniter boys thought about the tacomas. Since most of our audience chose the Frontier I wondered if they felt the same.

 

I refuse to ever step foot in another Frontier. I rode in one to the grocery store one time, and I got car sick...and I threw my back out in those fucking uncomfortable seats.

Plus, I felt like I was in a sardine can and I got claustrophobic.

 

those fronty's may have a bit more hp than our tacomas do stock........but thats about it. with a mod or 2....you got that covered then some. bottom line..............for quality and something to "drive til' the wheels fall off.............Tacoma has ya covered......................................frontier dont!!!

 

I agree with the fact that our seats do sit way too low. I've had my Taco for 6 months and still can't find a comfortable position and I'm just a regular guy - 6ft, 175 lbs.

 

I disagree. I hate seats that sit high above the floor. I like our low seats.

I am the most comfortable in my truck than I am in my bed at home.

Sorry, the seating position for me just flat out sucks. It feels like a car, not a truck. I can't even drive my 6 spd. with steel-tow work boots on because the clutch and brake pedals are so small.

It must be because I'm so used to being around real trucks (Macks, Freightliners) all the time that this thing just feels like a dinky toy.

I think a RAM 2500 with a Cummins and a 6 spd. manual is in the cards next time, especially now that fuel has come down.

I really thought my taco was a truck I was going to hang onto for awhile. I'm extremely disappointed in what I've got, even after all the research I did before I bought it.

I see where you are coming from, dealing with big trucks. We have alot of room in loco cabs, but they are uncomfoortable to me too...

I'm sorry you are dissapointed with your taco.

 

6ft is above average height IMO. (Even though I wish I was 6ft tall)
You might need to get a fullsize truck to drive with your work boots on.
But you can still keep the Taco for wheelin and dates of course.
BTW we all know fuel isnt going to stay this price so dont count on diesel staying this price in the long run.

 

I realize that, but according to all these guys on CNBC claiming to be experts, the economy won't turn around until the end of 2009, and even after that I believe it will be a long time till we see $147- a barrel oil again.

 

I'd agree with that. It's a pain with boots on. Can't get the same tactile feel out of the pedals the same as with being up higher.

But the interior of the Dodge makes me depressed. It's so ugly and drab. I know it's a work truck, but jesus, does it have to look like it was constructed out of a giant block of plastic? The Ford Interior is far superiour to the Dodge. (Even though I'd never touch a Ford)

I like the bit of polish our Tacos have. The Frontiers look too minivanish inside. And I hate that steering wheel they have.

 

Exactly, if I wanted a four-wheel drive car with a box, I would have bought a Baja.

I guess the seating position is my only real complaint with the truck, but it's affecting my entire ownership experience.

 

If I could even HALFWAY justify a ton truck it I would have a 4 door Dodge 2500 4x4 cummins with a 6speed. My GF dad has one with a programmer it is so freaking awesome. Just like this:


I used it earlier this year to haul a car.truck+trailer(heavy trailer)+ 1995 Trans am= 20.5(loaded vs. 21.6 normal. OMG!(according to the trucks driver info center.

PS If I could AFFORD the DODGE I would Be able to keep the taco for a daily driver still.
