suspension

I was wondering what i can do to make my truck ride better off road... i have a leveling kit and then a 3" body lift. It still has the stock springs, and shocks. the truck rides great on road, but once i turn down a rough road... boy hold on. any suggestions???

 

I'd suggest scrapping the body lift and leveling kit (sell it on Craig's list or here) and get something like this:

 

Remove sway bar? The sway bar makes your front suspension work as one unit, which is great on the highway...it minimizes body roll and helps prevent a roll over at highway speeds. But off-road, it SUCKS. Taking it off will allow your suspension to drop and rise truly independently of the other wheel, therefore minimizing "the bobblehead effect"

EDIT: Just saw you have a body lift...yeah get rid of that first. lol

ok so the body lift is having some to do with this then... correct me if im wrong. i went with this set up a few years ago... and i think its time to make a change.

 

irish020 that is a 3" suspension lift? cuz i have the nitto 33 x 12.50 on the truck. originally i had just a leveling kit, the previous set of mud tires rubbed like crazy. i couldnt even park.

 

Yes, 3" lift...those are 285/75/16's BFG AT KO's, had to lose the mud flaps and just a smidge of grinder work on the inside of the fender..this was install day to give you an idea of the difference....

 

as far as buget... 1000 at the most. i would have to save for awhile. haha

 

ok this might sound like a dumb question, but how could i get it back to stock when i have added the body lift. i mean i would have to get back all the factory size bolts, brackets, etc....???? cuz it has been yrs since i did the lift. and i have no clue where all those parts are.

 

i would have to take awhile to save up that much... i have some to spend now, but would that be enough to make the switch?

 

For the setup I showed you, the $1000 won't get you the new UCA's which makes a huge difference in drivability and alignments....

Look around in here, you'll find reasonable options for under $1000 that would improve your off road capabilities!
