Dirt bike in short bed?

Will a dirt bike comfortabley fit in a short bed with the tailgate down? Thanks.

 

yes i put mine in caddy cornered and the gate closes... or just leave the tail gate down like most people. fits just fine..

 

With the tailgate down, how close is the rear tire to the end of the tailgate?

 

4 inches or so. just caddy corner it and tie down the front... also depends on the bike legnth they arent all the same haha i have a 2009 crf250r so anyways i strap down the front and it fits nicely

You won't have any problems with a dirt bike. This motorcycle is significantly longer than a dirt bike and isn't even 1/2 way back on the tailgate.

Both bikes have been transported over 400 miles at a shot. the blue one went through some traffic road rage in NYC a few months ago..taxi cut me off..couple fingers went in the air after some highly tactical swerves bike was still in there hangin solid

 

That's about how mine fits. If you throw your gear bag and stuff in the bed a Moto-Gate is a good investment.

 

I disagree that your street bike is significantly longer than a dirt bike. This guys dirt bike is longer than yours. My 140 ( trail bike ) fits in my long bed with the tail gate up but its really close. So close that I have to put it at an angle if I have new tires on it.


I would say the extra length is due to the large tires on the dirt bikes.


Either way, yes a dirt bike will fit in a short bed, but it's nicer to have a long bed if thats possible.

 

Yea, I stuff my 05 Banshee in the back of mine all the time. Not exactly a bike but you get the point. There is room back there.
