My Clutch is Squeaking?!

I have a new noise coming from the engine bay. It appears to be a squeak from the clutch system. When I push down the clutch pedal you can hear it. Any ideas on what it could be? Throw out bearing? Clutch grabs fine, just squeaks.

 

You have the 1st revision fork+throwout bearing. Those will all start to squeak eventually due to wear on the transmission nose. Supposedly bad geometry with the fork causes too much side-loading on the aluminum nose from a steel throwout bearing.

Many with the condition go the route of the URD oversized throwout bearing + steel sleeve that fits over the aluminum part.

 

What's the repair bill on that one? Parts? No labor

 

Umm...see if you can identify where the noise is coming from. If it's at the clutch pedal itself, it's just a plastic bearing rubbing, nothing serious at all. I had that issue on mine after only 11,000 km.

 

How much longer do you think i have until it goes up?

 

It's definitely from the engine bay or underneath in the case.

 

Mine squeaks ever since I got it, really really loudly. Sounds like the same place you described. Seen a lot of posts about fixing them, just been too lazy to do it.

I really hate squeaking it at every stop sign and stop light though.

 

It's not an inside of the cab squeak. It's definitely coming from the clutch underneath the truck in the case.

 

Deal with it! If your truck is under warranty tell the dealer and the squeak will be gone. If your over warranty grease the clutch by the spring, also the squeak is almost non existent in cold weather, hot weather like now it comes back

 

I've had it year round but it's much noticeable now. I think it's the throw out bearing.

 

If the truck is on then could be the shaft tsb.....what everyone said, but if the truck is off then you may have what I have. The shift fork rusts to hell and you can see where it binds on the slave when you press the clutch in. I had to soak my slave and fork in silicon spray for it to go away. Comes back after driving in the rain.

Dealer(s) won't do anything for me, so I keep spray in my door. It sure sounds like the pedal until you open the door and listen to it under the truck. 25k lovely miles in.....

 

OP, refer to this! I had a 96 with a squeek. It's the fork! I sprayed some WD-40 on the fork. Just a temporary fix though, but cheap fix.

That's good for fixing the creak, not so much the squeak. I have to do that every couple months

 

I know what problem you're talking about, Gelo, but it seems his is coming from the engine bay rather than the free play adjuster. My dad's Yaris had this exact same problem, some Cheetah Grease on the linkages fixed it right up. Getting the boot back on was a major PIA though. Also not sure of the exact location of the one on the Tacoma, haven't looked recently.
