The rear passenger window has been sporadically working. Will always go down, but won't always go up. Told the wife not to use it and well that didn't get listened to, so. Is there a way to manually get the window up?

Also, what are the thoughts on the problem? The master switch or the motor? Since it will always go down wondering if it is the switch and since it will just not go up and then at some point will not thinking it is the motor unless it is seizing up somehow.

Motor would be my first guess. Take it apart, they aren't too hard to work on.

i say take the door panel off and see what you can see/find maybe something falls and blocks it from going up. idk just a thought. if not it’s prob the motor or switch.

edit: or maybe something like the lock button... i have done that a few times. but when looked it wont go down or up.

    Does the rear switch work?

Yeah checked previously to make sure nothing was blocking it from going up.

The safety lock out switch isn't engaged.

When it happens neither the driver switch or the rear door switch works.

And the other switches/windows function when this occurs?

Yup, all other switchs and windows function fine. If you keep trying either the driver switch or the switch on the window itself it will (knock on wood) eventually decide to listen and the window rolls up.

I'm betting it's the master switch. The ground circuit runs back through it.

I am experiencing the same thing with the same window. Did you ever determine the problem? Mine is an '09 with only 37,000 miles and the window is already breaking? YIKES!

After it working sporadically it has been working without issue. My plan was to disassemble and check the motor first and if that worked fine I was going to then check the master switch.

Mine hasn't acted up since so I have left it alone until or if it acts up again. If it is the master switch I wouldn't buy directly from Toyota as they are crazy for how much they want for the part. You can find it aftermarket with lifetime warranty for way less. Motor you can find cheaper but without warranty, but for the price difference I think you could buy like 2 or 3 of the aftermarkets for the same as Toyota wants.

If the window travels in one direct, the motor is fine. Being a DC motor, they reverse direction by changing the polarity. So if a window only travels in one direction, the problem is in the reverse direcrtion circuitry.

Yeah I think the revival of this post jinked me. Over the weekend mine acted up again. I am leaning towards it being the master switch that is going bad on me and I am planning on ordering a new one this week.
