So I went through this POS car wash a couple times. I usually never go in any wash that has anything that touches the vehicle... but this one is so cheap and fast! Anyway... every time I would check out my truck from the front, it seemed like my antenna was leaning more and more away from the truck. It didn't feel loose or anything so I left it on. Then one day a branch friggin snapped it clean off. A BRANCH. I didn't even realize it at first either. I heard a whack on my passenger side window and thought the branch had snapped back and hit the window. A while down the road I realized the antenna was gone. So here's what it looks like now:

It looks like there's a piece still in there and I have no clue how I'm going to get it out. I really don't want to have to remove the whole fender or ask some shop to get it out. Any ideas on what I can do would be appreciated.

    Screw extractor should work.

You have to drill a hole into the center of the broken stud, then you use the screw extractor- you use a wrench to "thread" it into the hole you drilled counter clockwise, and as it tightens down it'll back your broken stud out. I'd watch a youtube video first.

    It's the wife's T4R so it's stock
Extractor didn't work for me so I had to remove the entire antenna assembly inside the fender and replace... Not hard but a pain in the ass for sure.

I lost mine somewhere else but the car wash slowly got it to that point! I wish I could blame them.

Use a left hand drill bit. You'll run the drill in reverse to use this, and hopefully it will catch the screw and turn it out.
The reverse pitch drill bit will catch the antenna piece and if it isn't rusted in there it will spin it out.
It has worked for me many time's.

I agree on the reverse drill bit. Taps work better on thicker and stronger things like solid steel head bolts and the like, or soft large bolts made out of aluminum. I've dealt with similar things and if a reverse bit didn't work, I used a hardened drill bit of the same size and just drilled it in and the metal will typically crumble and shatter and come out in chunks. Sometimes the threads even stay intact. If not, you can drill in new threads, or use that epoxy thread maker stuff and put it in, create new threads, and then put a new antenna on. It will work fine. I've used that stuff on some heavy duty engine parts for short term use while waiting to make a replacement and it lasted for months and showed zero sign of wear. I'm sure it would last forever on an antenna.

Why would the car wash be responsible? You are supposed to remove the antenna before going through a car wash.

I would also try a left hand drill bit...

Any update on this? How did you do. I am in the same position as you and want to give it a shot. Looks like I'll start with a left handed drill bit.

if you plan on using a screw extractor I would use the thicker base ones, i've broken too many of the skinny ones and you are worse off when you have a broken screw extractor.
