I've seen posts about the 2012's saying "there's a grid showing on the backup camera display". My JBL/Entune/camera unit doesn't have the gridlines and I can't find anything in the manuals about turning them on or off. What am I missing?

Same here. It shows each side verticle lines a I think two horizontal as range markers.

No lines on the screen with the Entune system. Guess they figured the screen was big enough that we didn't need them.

I'm not so sure about that... A friend of mine has both a Camry and Sienna (he used to own a Taco...then got married and had 3 kids, so his wife made him trade it for the van!). Anyway, both of those vehicles have the backup cam on the Nav display in center console. I don't know if that's as large as the Entune screen(?), but it's still much larger than my rearview display and the lines are displayed there as well.

Maybe there's a difference in manufacturer on the Entune system models?

I'm not sure...I've never even looked to see if I can turn the guide-lines off on my rearview display (I'm not sure I'd want to), but I don't think I can.

I am not sure what the big deal is? My 2012 Navi does not have any lines and I can see just fine.

Wonder if the lines remain trustworthy if the camera is repositioned/angled slightly (e.g. when a PopNLock handle is installed).

I have the entune as well no lines, but think the rear view mirror has the screen display but is not connected because of the entune equipted. I wonder if it could be arranged or connected to be use the mirror display at the same time as the entune display.

I use the lines all the time. Side lines got me used to parallel parking a PU again. The center line I use all the time for lining up the tongues on my trailers. The rear blue line I have found to be the perfect distance when backing up to a loading dock so that you're close enough, but far enough away to still drop the tailgate. The red one I just use to freak people out that are parked behind me. As long as that red line doesn't touch their vehicle, I'm good. Gotten plenty of warning honks though!!

Crap. I was hoping this was a hidden fix kind of thing. I don't use the camera except for the last few inches in a parking situation, but if my wife ever needed to do any backing, more help would be a good thing.

Or you could do what I do and leave the wife in the passenger seat.

I think I read in the manual that the far line is about 3' (far enough to be able to drop the tailgate) and the closer red line 1.5". In my case the close line is about 1'. Very handy with such a small screen

if you have a navi unit the back up camera shows up in the screen and you get no grid lines. if you don't, then the back up camera shows up in rear view mirror and you get grid lines.

dont aks me why! its just toyotas retarded way of doing it.

you'd think when you pay THAT MUCH MORE for the premium navi system, you would get the same treatment, but you just don't.
