i work at a body shop. that textured stuff is called chip guard. tons of cars/trucks/vans etc come with this from the factory. its there to protect against rock chips. Toyota is not gonna warranty it or have any special advice as its supposed to be there.....

never seen it turn yellow though. you could try just using a cut polish and a buffer? we do that for faded paint a lot at work.

YES! repaint the entire truck Black Sand Pearl, that will take the yellowing out. Seriously man, try some rubbing compound and polish, Meguirs makes some good stuff. Try that first then if that doesn't work take it to a body shop or dealership and see what they say.

I'm wondering if it's a different application than stock. Perhaps the car was repainted at one time and inferior products were used.

Agreed, it sounds as if there was some body damage, and it was repaired on the one side with a lower grade clear coat. OP I would take it to a reputable body shop and see what they say. Do you know of any repairs to the truck?

this might be the answer actually because I bought the car used and the previous owner did have a crash on that side so this would totally make sense. I'm going to take it to a body shop tomorrow and see what they have to say. All help is greatly appreciated guys.
