Looks to me like most Gen2 Taco's driving down the road are DC's, at least around here. I seldom see a reg cab, maybe 30% AC's, 60% DC's. I'd like to have a DC, but it won't fit in the garage and that's a big deal to me.

2nd Gen, I wanted a regular cab but I have a dog who I didn't want in the bed and occasionally have a human passenger too, so I got an access cab.

If I have enough cash ever to have a dedicated play truck that's not a DD, 1st gen regular or access cab all the way.

My mom had a 2-door Celica and a 4-door Camry while I grew up, so if I do ever settle down and have a kid I think I'll make the access cab work.

My folks had three kids, a Chevy Astro van:rolleyes:, and an extended cab Dakota. The Dakota was used to cart around a kid or two in a pinch. If we all had to go somewhere we had to take the van, too cramped. Extra cab Dakota is a little better than an Access cab Tacoma, but not by much.

I don't think what my folks made do with would work now, twenty years later. California now wants kids in a booster seat until they are like, 5 feet tall. Not happening in an extended cab Dakota, or in an early Access cab Taco either.

AC for me. I have 2 kids but absolutely would not have the short bed. I own 3 cars though so the convenience of have 4 big doors for me was not essential in the Taco. When I want to haul people over long distances, I throw them in the Sequoia and call it good.

I went short, figure I can just buy a trailer if I ever truly regret the decision, that is what the tow package is for in my mind, and I have seen trailers for $300 on craigslist, so the shorter truck works great; the DC is a must.

Any longer than I would just get a full size. The bed extender comes in handy when I need it.

I could never tolerate the short bed. It is, after all, the bed that distinguishes a truck from a Corolla. If I wanted additional room that essentially equates to having an extra glove box I'd have bought a Frontier (they have the double glove box thing).

I keed! But seriously, the 6' bed allows me to haul my motorcycles (or whatever I put in it) with the tailgate closed in no fear of losing my gear on the highway, without fussing with an extender, and without the expense or hassle of a trailer. But, none of us have to justify what/why we bought - IT'S A TACOMA! :woot:

Had a 2010 DC Short bed. Sold it and just got the 2012 AC Offroad. Love the bed space (2 kids by the way, that's what the wife's car is for)

Exactly! I would see these for years in magazines and think, "the minute they offer these in the US I am buying one because they are the perfect vehicle". Now that I have a double cab Tacoma I am sure they are the perfect vehicle.

    That is a cool truck!
