relays?

 

I haven't wired the switch for the winch yet, its straight to the battery right now. But he already said it, I plan to use a relay when I finally get around to it.

 

I've been searching for a wiring diagram for a warn m8000 (example only) and can't find anyone using a relay in their schematics. I have however found a bunch of people using solenoids in place of a relay which are basically the same thing only solenoids can have capacities of up to 600 amps or more so sorry for my derp but I think I answered my own question, thanks.

 

Thats the winch I have. I think a solenoid might be a better way to go actually.

Ah, I never thought of wiring the second switch that way. Looks like I'll be buying an in cab switch and a SPDT switch for the bed. Thanks for the diagram!

Happy to help. I should point out that I didnt actually need to use a DPDT switch for the in cab one, its just the only one I could find that had two independent amber LEDs. I would also recommend carling switches, which it looks like you already have, and getting the terminal ends and terminal housings for the switches you plan to use. That way you can make your own little wire harness and it keeps everything nice and clean and easy to disconnect/reconnect if need be.

Final product looks good too BTW.

 

Yep. The two independent amber leds are the reason I got these ones. I'm just using female blade connectors right now. what kind of terminal housings and ends are you talking about. The only ones I found on OTRATTW are for the 8 pin switches...

The Packard 630 female terminals sized for whatever size wire you are running. Probably one of these two: Product ID: 12015869 For use with 18 to 20 gauge wire, or 12015870 For use with 14 to 16 gauge wire. They are listed for use with the 8 pin housing but they work with the 10 pin as well.

And the ten pin housing is there too, just no picture. Product ID: VC1-01 Rear connector housing, 10 terminal.

In all seriousness, that looks really clean. I wish there were more places to relocate switches in the 1st gens.

I can probably get some tomorrow. But I don't have any right now. What are you looking for a picture of exactly? That way I can try to get a good shot of what you're after. The housing looks just like the 8 pin but has two extra slots for terminals.

 

Probably some pictures of the terminals and how they fit into the housing. I'm confident that they work together nicely but I'm just curious.

Where is the best place to pull your ign. Power from? I am going to wire up 6 switch and am just trying to find the best logical source!

 

What are you trying to accomplish?

 

Wiring up power to 6 switches with out splicing into my stock harness.
