Hey everybody. I have a small issue. I love my new pickup, but my better half, well, she hates getting into it. She says it's too high to get up in since she's barely 5' tall. I told her I would track down some step bars so that she could get in without a step ladder.

Is there any step bars that ya'all could recommend that would stand up to winter and rain and won't turn into rust in 6-18 months?

    Stock for now
stainless steel nfabs or nasta stainless steel nerf bars
Amp makes pricey steps that are steath.
I opted for black powder coat sanded them down & coated them in spray rustoleum bed liner to prevent rust anything but SS will rust!

My oem step bars though managed to make it through 5 yrs though & not much rust, spotty. Did not look horrible. I sold them when I sold the truck.

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
For what it's worth, my wife hated the oem bars. Never used them to get in because they're only a few inches lower than the bottom of the truck anyway and they stuck out a decent bit so it actually made it more difficult for her to get out. She would get pissed in snow or rain because whatever she was wearing would brush the bars and get dirty. She's 5'3".

It's just something to think about when you're shopping around.

Good point yes it is true, if you do not use the bar getting out, there is the potential of getting dirt on your clothes. And slippery yes!

The bars I got for my tundra are Raptor 3", mount to stock points on the rocker like most the tacoma ones did.
I easily sanded & sprayed the whole bar including pads with bed coating spray, now have textured grip & work awesome.
No issue with the coating chipping off, prep is key.
I use them all the time getting in & out of the tundra.

As mentioned above, I also never use mine, and I don't think I have ever seen my wife use them, but the kids do.
I would suggest go to the dealer or even a used car lot and have your wife try getting into a truck there that already has the bars installed, to see if it works for her, before you buy them and realize they are just in the way.

N-Fab, Avid, Go Rhino type steps are very good for short people. They hang a little lower than a nerf bar and have an actual step. And as stated get stainless steel and have them painted/bedlined/powder coated.
