In my 09 DC V6 TRD off Road - I get 20 to 21 at 75MPH with cruise (mixed hills and flat terrain). Truck has 5K on ot now. I think I drive normal, not to aggressive and not too gentle. Mine is stock, TRD filter and I do run 91 octane. Having had an 07 Tundra before at 14.5 mpg, I am very happy.

I agree with the cheaper gas now back up to 1.83 here I am not so worried... but thought i would ask you guys how you do it.

Here is the link for the tires
    Tire Calculator: 265/65-R17 - 255/75-R17
As i said my GPS says the Speedo is now right on with the new tires so i don't factor in another 4.9%

here is my numbers for the BEST part of the trip.
275miles at fill up (gas light not on.) 15.8 Gal = 17.40MPG

Figuring in the 4.9% speedo error (what stock tires would read... even though incorrect according to my GPS.)
    288.5miles @ 15.8 Gal = 18.25

So you guys that are getting better MPG are you checking your Speedo vs a GPS?

Allpro,?? for gears? I have the 2.7L 3RZ Xtra Cab. 3"Lift 32" tires and 4.56gears.

I got the gears from Randys Ring and Pinion www.ringpinion.com
I think it was about 800 for the gears and Master install Kits. I got the Yukon Gears. the only other brand I would trust is Motive.

I've posted a few times round here about mileage. I have a 35 mile one way commute to work in the SF (nightmare) Bay Area traffic. If I keep my foot out of it and under 70 I have been consistentlly getting 20-22 mpg during my commute as measured by my ScanGauge II. I do very little in town driving though on my commute days. Mix a bit of that in like on the weekends and my tanks average 19mpg. I did gain a bit (maybe 1mpg overall average) when I added my TRD Exhaust. Overall I'm very happy with the mileage I get. Lowest I've seen is 16mpg on a trip but I really had my foot in it.

Towing is a different story. 5000# travel trailer in tow I get 8-10mpg. 12 only once with a good tailwind.

My mpg has gone down a tad since the beginning of cold weather but I still get around 19 with a mix of city/country driving. I use my ScanGauge to keep me focused on conservative driving. On the highway I go no faster than 65mph and coast when I can. I try to anticipate traffic signals and slow a little ahead of time to minimize the stop. My stock tires are inflated to 40 psi and I have an Undercover tonneau. Last summer on a 345 mile trip through mountain passes and the Columbia River gorge I averaged 23 mpg. A little over 100 miles of that is on a state highway that allows me to coast often.

Keep your RPM's low (2100 rpm). I've gotten as much as 22 mpg mixed driving. Keep your right foot light and your mph low and you'll be fine.

When I first got my Tacoma, mine mileage was very poor, but it steadily got better and leveled out averaging around 21mpg in the summer. In the winter of 2007/2008 it went back down some, and I've been in Korea since then.

Mine is a 2007 access cab, 4x4, V6 with a 6spd manual, pretty much stock everything. I've also found some of my first mileage is on the interstate moving between 65-75. The best mileage is when I'm on smaller roads averaging 55. I always get midgrade gas.

Mine is a 2.7, but speed makes a HUGE difference. 72mph is way too fast for good mileage. Back in-the-day when we had the much maligned and very unpopular "double nickel" that everyone said did no good.....well, it was there for a reason. The ScanGauge has shown me that at 55mph I can get 26-28mpg, and at 70 I'm lucky to get 20. Colder temps make a big difference too. Your mileage will be better in warm weather than in cold, always.

I drive up to 5,000 miles a month and therefor monitor my mileage closely. I have added a K&N cold air intake which gave me an extra mpg or so. The biggest change I made though was changing when I shifted gears. (can't do with an automatic) by shifting below 2k rpms I gained 2-3mpg. At 60mph with the tailgate down I can get 24-25mpg (this is on a highway going through the mountains) around town i get 19mpg. Limit how much you start you truck. Lots of startups kill your mileage.

I had an intake and exhaust and was getting between 16-19 depending on how I drove. Mostly mixed city/hwy. Highest I ever got was 351 miles for 19.2 gallons. With the charger in it it is now getting between 15-17. Lowest I saw was 13.5.

Most of my driving is out in the country with speed limits of 55-70MPH, very little traffic for me. I also use premium and get roughly 19-21MPG on average. When I tried regular after getting the new tires installed I was getting 15, but that also included more city driving.
