How are you guys getting in or near the 20's with the v6 4x4s?

    I have a longbed DC
and I towed my jetski on a double trailer up to Eugene from my house and got 14.5 towing have a few 6% grades to go up but normal Oregon Freeway!

then up tp PDX and back to Eugene got about 17.5 (NOT TOWING). (flat part of oregon) with a few stops

then from Eugene home to medford got 16.5 (not towing)

I set the cruise at 72ish and go.
I take off the cruise to go up any big hills so it does not RACE CAR it up the hills and I drop the speed a little (even though it can do it at 70+)

Avg RPMs around 2100-2300 i would guess.

I do have the bigger tires but the GPS is RIGHT ON to speedo so i go what the trip meter says for mileage.

(this makes me want my Full Size Chevy back... More room and better MPGS ) 15-20 all the time!

I think you get 20+ mpg by coasting downhill with a 40 mph wind behind you.

Won't lie, when I got the truck the mileage was poor. Let it break in and the mileage got better, however I am getting 17-18.6 on a regular basis. I have seen 21.4 with my 3" lift and 33s driving to Texas from Louisiana, around 5hrs with some hills. To answer your question hell if I know.

I believe it has a lot to do with elevation, weather, towing, and how you drive. I can get really great milage or, i can get really crappy milage. It all depends on those factors I just listed.

Its crazy.. I think for the most part I drive like a Grandpa! Like there is an Egg under teh accelerator. Very Soft and smooth.

I agree the above will change things but on a regular basis I see about 14-15 in town and 16-17 on the freeway. ( I did fill it up go drive about 20 miles or so anf fillback back up and got 22MPG driving was mainly under 50mph and flat level ground with my v6 4x4 AC)

I just thought these trucks were suppose to get better than I get.
(does the Factory speedo errors have much to do with peoples numbers?)

Like I said my 33's now make my speedo RIGHT ON according to my GPS.
I should have my buddy (Trooper) radar me at 60 65 and 70 to see if it is accurate?

johnson- the cold weather seems to have affected my mileage a bit now. Also, speed greatly decreases the fuel economy with the greater wind resistance, especially being a lifted truck. when i tested a while back with my scangauge(calibrated accurate to within a %!) the speed affected my mileage something like this:
    70 mph:13-16.5mpg
    65 mph:16-18.5mpg
    60 mph:19-21mpg
    55 mph: 19.5-22mpg
this was in the warmer weather on some pretty flat sections of road(101, 140, I5) any headwinds and it dropped maybe 10-30% from there too. My truck is a V6 6speed though so the automatics are supposed to do a little better even. setup was 32's running 35PSI all around and running chevron regular with my K&N drop in filter installed too. as a side note- i've noticed i can get 5% or so better MPGs by NOT using the cruise and using a lighter foot.
Also, when you calculated did you factor in your larger tire size? with the bigger tire you travel father than what your ODO says, probably 5% or so.

I'd get run over trying to drive that speed around here . I'd made the assumption that speed was my greatest loss of mpg, of course it went down even more when I put on heavier/bigger wheels and tires. I get around 17-18mpg on average with my rough calculations and that is about half highway at ~70 and half city at ~50mph. When I had Dunslops I was getting 19 almost 20, but never over 20mpg with the same driving.

I don't think we get winter gas in Vegas .

Yeah my scangauge mileage is 17.5 pretty regularly when I am not towing. Towing I do not want to discuss it! Plus my driving, winter, elevation isn't helping. Truck has 25k now. This was the same mileage I got with my 4.7 V8 Tundra. Oh well... still love the truck. :D

I got 20mpg when I first bought my Tacoma. I drove extra carefull and took off rather slowly. Now, I drive balls to the wall at the speed of heat. Mpg now is about 18-19 with half city and half highway.

I often get over 20mpg. Various speeds and towing do make a difference though. Over 70 or towing will usually bring you below 20mpg. I now have about 10,000 smiles on the truck and I do really like it so far.

Best milage I got was 21, and that was about a year after I bought the truck. Made a trip to TN, around 2 AM NO traffic, no wind. Straight shot driving.
With my lift my speedo is off, but I found that the type of gas you burn has alot to do with it. Maybe I am off base and fooling myself, but I have found BP to run better in my ride.
For me everytime I want to test for milage, traffic is bad, construction, or weather.
On another note, I don't drive mine alot, I haven't put 100 miles on it in the last month.

I get somewhere between 17 and 19 city, and 20+ highway. I checked the numbers for about a month. Dont know how I get it, but I'm happy.

My truck setup is a stock DC LB, and I'm averaging 19 mpg city/highway w/ pretty fast driving habits. No jack-rabbit starts, and I try to coast alot through traffic. I babied it during the first 2k, and got around 20 mpg city/highway. There are so many factors in gas mileage that it's not funny.

Hell, I think that my hood scoop adds a couple mpg. :D

Make sure you calculate for tire size too. Best I can get is 19 c/h mix. Now that gas is 1.45/gal I don't even calculate mpg. The lower the gas prices the heavier my right foot gets.
