Hello all. So I just bought a TRD Scooped hood w.out the insert in it. No biggie, the only biggy is the hood is not painted. Yes, I could go generic and get it silver sreak mica like my truck, by why not get something done to it that no one else has?

Any suggestions on painting the hood? Keep it flush (silver) with the rest of the truck?

    Line-x It silver?

Go silver with the scoop painted black?

How much does it cost to paint a hood like this?

    Thank you!

IMO, I think it would look great and fit the look of your truck if you went Silver Streak Hood, with the Matte Black insert (same color as your two tone look. That would look badass.

And to add .. being a huge fan of the BHLM, I would almost go as far as to say to black out the headlights with a Matte Black paint or Plasti-Dip. Oh and it will probably cost you $200+ to paint the hood.

I got it off craigslist. 100$!! Unpainted. Cant beat that! It didnt include the hood insert but that is only 105$. Check craigslist daily, thats what i have been doing.

I do have smoked headlights. I need to update my sig with them in. They look bad ass!

I just ordered the matte black insert. In a month i will post pics of my hood completed on the truck. Thanks for the support guys. Toyota4life!

Good luck with that unless you're doing it yourself. Cheapest I could find was a guy I knew and he was still going to be $250 w/supplies included but his paint was cheap and none of the chips matched good enough and I didn't want to pay more to blend fenders. Around here all the places I called want about $400 just to paint a hood I brought in. Most warned that blending the fenders would be the ideal way to go about it but it was going to run even more to do that. The local Toyota dealership's body shop had the closest paint match and they were 'starting at' $400 just to paint the hood and he said depending on prep it could be even higher than that. Now my Craigslist scooped hood is just sitting in my garage because I don't want to spend $500 to have it painted right now. Just wanted to pass along my findings because I had a lot of people telling me it would be like $100-$200 to have painted so I had a bit of a rude awakening when even friends of friends were substantially more than that. It seems that the automotive repair industry has gone up as of late or something.

That's why I said $200+ .. I can get it done from a friend I know for about $200 if I wanted, but the + could be a biiiiiig plus. If you prep the hood and ensure it is ready to primer and paint (which is pretty simple) then it would cost you not too too much more than $200.

I love craigslist just for that reason lol. I got these lights off of a member here on TW. They are the OEM ones, I like them a lot compared to my old chrome ones.
