Questions About Seat Covers

1) What brand do you have?
2) What material are they made of (leather, neoprene, etc)?
3) How long have you had them?
4) What do you like/dislike?
5) If you have Wet Okoles are they hot (if you live somewhere where it is hot and humid)?

Having a couple of kids, I really need to get seat covers but I want them to last and look good and not make me sweat even more in the Houston heat and humidity. Thanks.

I don't have any yet but will probably get Wet Okoles when I do. The fit on them is fantastic. I'm also wondering about the heat factor on them. I'm sure we'll hear from some that have them a lot of members do.

4th set purchased my last set I owned for 5 yrs on 2006 Tacoma DC
4) What do you like/dislike? Like Full Coverage you can spill a whole cup of coffee does not go through to seat. Dislike paying for them intitially but seats are like new when trading in 5 yrs later. Then sell covers used.

4) I love how tough they are. My buddy has had them in his Tacoma for over a year and they have held up perfect. I dislike that they took almost 8 weeks to get to me.

Is there any humidity where you are in California. We have about 95 to 97% in the summer here.

Alpine1 did you ever decide on which seat covers will work best for you?
I live about 50 miles south of you in Lake Jackson. I recently bought a 2009 Tacoma and I need to cover the seats to protect them from me and the kids before I ruin them. I've been looking at the Wet Okole and CalTrend neosupreme seat covers.

 

I actually ended up going with the leather Clazzio covers. They seemed like the best price/quality option. The wet okoles just seem like they will cause alot of sweating with the heat and humidity we have. My wife has leather in her car and it never seems to be a problem. The Clazzio's look nice and should meet my needs (kids and dogs). They just arrived yesterday. Hopefully I can put them on this weekend and I will try to post pics.

 

I've had my Wet Okoles and I've traveled extensively through the South in the worst of summer. Record heat in SC when I was there and humid as hell. The Okoles were fine. Most comfortable cover I've owned, better than the bare seat.

 

Badger: were you travelling in 95% + humidity? If so that is great. Hopefully mine work out but if not, I will give the Wet Okoles a try.

I personally do not like neoprene seat covers because they make me sweat.

I lived in Smithville (northwest of Houston) for 3 years so I'm very aware of what you are talking about with regard to humidity. You know it's humid when you turn on the AC and the outside of the windows fog up! If you drive around with the AC off and the windows down, you're going to sweat no matter what seat covers you have.

 

Does anyone know if the Wet Okoles TRD seat covers are able to fit on a 2011 Tacoma TRD Sport with, say, some slight modification?

I am aware that they quit producing them post 2007 with the addition of side airbags to the Tacomas, but I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to get them to fit. I thought maybe cutting a slit in the side of the covers would allow for an extra stretch of room around the airbag compartment. But, perhaps this would compromise the sleek look of a form-fitting seat cover such as these.

Has anyone ever attempted this, or thought about doing it? I really really like the embroidered red TRD emblem with the Okoles!!

 

Wet Okele covers are available with slots cut in the sides of the covers to accommodate the airbags. The material overlaps where the slots are so you don't see the seat beneath but it still allows the airbag to be functional. No modification required whatsoever. Search for pics...plenty of them floating around on here.

I am looking specifically for TRD brand embroidered Wet Okole seat covers. Are these the ones you are talking about that come with the slots? Because I can't seem to find anyone that sells the TRD Wet Okoles for 2009 and up....

 

Wet Okele will embroider any of their seat covers with the TRD logo.

I haven't bought any for my 2008 Tacoma yet but was convinced to get the Wet Okole, but the salesman at AutoAnyThing, told me CalTrend is the only way to go and much better than Wet Okole. - Any thoughts?
I love the red TRD Logo but can't get it from autoanything.

4) My only dislikes are the initial purchase price, and the fact that they were a pain in the ass to install IMO. They fit extremely well, and look great!
