I have never been warned or cited for it....like I said if you use it responsibly and in the right times and places I really doubt you will have any run ins with the law. And as far as trying to lie your way out of it if you ever do get stopped would probably just increase the chances of getting a ticket so I would just own up to it and hope for a warning. Im not sure on this but I dont think they have to have permission or a warrant to look under your truck again im not sure on that though.

Awesome horn; do you have any pictures of it? I'd love to build a similar one.

I don't have a pic but I can get one tomorrow. Go to ebay and search "pvc train horns" you will see the booklet that shows how to build them and it has some pics of the horns. Thats the book that I bought to build mine with. Also mine is the 4" chamber

Lol, this thread is great. I was gonna mount an air horn with 2 electric on demand, mini air compressors, but never got to it. Recently got an air tank, about 3 gallons, need a pump for it now so I can run portable air I guess. What's a good viair one for that and can go higher psi like 150-200? Probably put it in a tool box or bed. Then I guess I could wire it to a switch in the cab

Email the guys at hornblasters.com they can get you set up with that you need on your budget. Just remember you get what you pay for on these compressors. Mine is the viair 280c which isnt near their top model but I have no complaints about it and gets the job done. Viair seems like a solid company.

Wow there really is a ton of stuff at hornblasters.. Well, for the single 4" chamber pvc ship horn, what kind of pressure and cfm does that thing need? I am liking their on board air kits that come complete, but they seem to have the smaller ports on those versus the horn tanks that have 1/2" ports. Would a single pvc horn need much cfm? I imagine the train horn setup would be good with 1/2". But I am really liking their OBA complete setups. Just can't filter out all the different options. I want to have it for my tires too and they have different kits for different size tires. Then they say they have basic low level kits for emergencies... So confused. The low level kits should work just fine if they are having high psi ratings. I think all these kits are designed for the train horns. Seems like a lot of air for those. But since I'll only be using a single lower pressure horn then I was thinking of this:
    https://m.hornblasters.com/products/details.php?i=viair-20003-1-5-gallon-air-source
Since it seems it has only one line out, I was thinking of putting a T fitting with the horn air valve attached to one side and an air hose to the other for emergency tire inflations. But is this gonna be enough for the horn? You said yours seems to like 150 psi and this is 120... that seems like a helluvalot... That guy blew through his with his lungs! I think I saw one of his videos too where he doweled out a smaller wood chamber to decrease the air flow so it didn't use as much air. Is this what he shows in his booklets too?

Under the driver seat would be a good mounting spot. Less likely for someone to steal them or end up with mysterious holes in the truck..

Yea I dont know how he did that you cant get anything out of mine with your lungs. I have 1/4" stuff on my ship horn and 1/2" on the train horns. But I really would recommend going with at least a 150 psi kit.

Well I looked at my brothers tank and it's a 13 gallon and says 125 max psi... Does that sound right? I think it originally had a compressor mounted on it so I think maybe it was only capable of putting 125 in it? Idk seems like it should hold more than that..

Edit: I think this is the one, w/o the compressor on it of course..

If the tanks says 125 psi max then you might not want to put more than that in it. Most setups have a pressure relief valve to prevent the tank from over pressurizing.

Alright. Well I try it and see if it'll be enough for my horn once I get it built. Should work fine. At least I'll have more air to use. Now to find a compressor to match it...

Alright so I started working on my horn. Was trying to cut out the plexiglass circle. Had a hard time as all I really have to cut it is a dremel. Got it close them dremeled the edge smooth but it still looks horrible. Lol. So what are you guys using to cut it? Kinda limited on my tools. My dremel is about the best I have. I also tried a metal diaphragm too. But all I had are tin snips and I got that one close too but it's just a tad bit out of shape/bent. I assume it needs to be pretty much perfectly round and flat? I saw some guys that used Tupperware lids like from a butter bowl but Idk about those. Seems like it wouldn't be enough pressure, or if it was it wouldn't produce as loud of a tone...??? Thought this project was gonna be easy:(

Not the easiest project by no means but it can be done with patience haha...it will be worth it in the end. I used a band saw and no it doesn't have to be perfect. Did you buy the book from dozierboymiller?

Naw. I watched a ton of YouTube videos and I got the basic idea down. Gonna try to 'wing' this one and see how it does. There's different methods other people used too using more complex pvc parts and assembly so I may end up trying a few different ones. Can't afford the on board air kit for a while so ima spend a few bucks for now and get a horn going that I like. I would like to support dozerboy and get his book, and I still might if I don't get the results I like, but if I can do it w/o then more power to me;)

No.. kinda put this project aside for a bit. I'm bad at that. Ha. I started it, but didn't get far. Got a lot of other shit going on right now. Plus my truck just blew it's water pump. Or I should say I blew it, by neglecting it. Ha. But yeah I'll back get to this eventually.
