Ok, I guess I am just not with it/ old or a supporter of Madison Avenue but what is the deal with debadging ??? I see many posts about it. Is it done for style or for a protest against "Toyota" and or the Dealerships ?? Hell, my first 1980 SR5 had a 4 foot "Toyota" across the tail gate, now just a 10 inch chrome Toyota is OK with me. Thanks i advance for all replies

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
It's a style thing. It gives the truck a clean look.

    Cleaner look

All personal preference, you can debadge, black it out, color match it, remove some letters, etc.

As mentioned, its a cleaner, or custom look that most are after, but I hated the 4 badges on the tailgate alone!

I de-badged mine for all these reasons. Especially the tailgate, IMO it looks so much better with no badges.

I'm debadged and love it when the clueless ask: "Is that a Tundra"? or "what kind of truck is that"?

Because with chrome (or chrome plated plastic), less is more. Plus it is an easy way to make the truck more 'your own'. Whenever I see a debadged Tacoma around town I think, "Cool, there's someone who likes to mod their vehicles, wonder if they're on tacomaworld."

Jim, I did mine for a cleaner look. I like the way my black bumpers, mirrors & door handles look with the Magnetic Grey paint without the chrome. If I had one of the TRD packages, I would peel off those graphics too.

I'd probably pull of the TRD graphics too, but only because I hate that the color is the same regardless of the color of the truck. Other than that, I actually like all the badges on the tailgate, and think some colors look odd without them (while others look really clean).

All the same reasons above for me...it looks cleaner without the graphics on the sides too. I just left the TACOMA on my doors for now till i get sick of them too :D

My TRD sport stickers were nicked and had brown gunk built up around the edges. The chrome had caked on brown gunk all the way around. Maybe leftover wax? Either way I liked the cleaner look. Plus IMO a product dosent need to be branded 50 times over. Just annoying overkill.

I cut some wires here. Added some wires there.
I thought the TRD sticker on the side of the bed looked like shit. It had to go.

I like 'em! Mine are staying put. If I had a white/silver truck I might think otherwise, but with a dark background (Timberland Mica), I like the accent. I also have shiny wheels so they kind of go together. On the other hand, if I had TRD stickers those would most likely be gone. Never have liked the looks of those on any Taco or Tundra.
