Two brackets attach the bumper center section to the frame.
There are two bolts that attach each bracket to the center section, and 3 that attach each bracket to the frame.

Height/angle adjustment can be made on the frame mount, but there's not much room for error there.
Fore/aft can be made by getting up inside the bumper behind the tailgate and loosening the bolts that attach the brackets to the center section.
There's a fair amount of play on those bolts.

I haven't taken it apart myself to inspect because this is an insurance thing but the four bolt holes on the top of the bumper are elongated side to side. The bumper seems to bolt to the hitch not the frame. I may be wrong on this tho. And I have know idea how you would get up and down play. This is super confusing without it apart to see it.
This is all great advise guys thanks!

The bumper assembly is a total of 4 pieces.
Bumper, center section (hitch), and brackets.

With the tow package, you may have a different arrangement... the center section and hitch may be one solid piece, but that assembly still bolts to the frame and there will be some adjustment there.

Possibly. But my fingers crossed one fits like the original did.

Is this possible? Part numbers? I measured the damaged bumper and the new one as best I could and it seems the new one is aprox. 1" wider than the original.

I have been going around to used car lots parking lots.looking for painted bumpers .looking for someone to trade my Chrome one to .here what i have noticed.if its a base modal truck not the Sr5 ,trd or sport package just the plain stating at 16k truk.the bumpers has big gaps and don't line up good.I think its a cheap made bumper that Toyota puts o some models to sale cheaper .if u look at on line parts catalogs most have 2 different bumpers one just shy of $200 and one around $300 I think u have the cheper made one

    Looks perfect to me.
There is supposed to be some space between the bumper and the body, this way, if the bumper gets whacked, it doesnt immediately hit and damage the body. Your original bumper was hit and therefore didnt stick out as much.

The bumper was perfect before it was hit. I am by no means ignorant on how my truck looked before it was hit. Pre accident and post repair are totally different.

Are you sure they used Genuine Toyota parts and not a cheap knock off...?

Ok so I've figured out a few things. 1) six part numbers all the same bumper. 2)new bumper is bent backwards from the center. This caused it to be too wide and too far back. 3) They ate getting me a new bumper and are gonna try again.

    Yup.

    It happens.

Especially with the reinforced aluminum foil that Toyota lists in the parts book as a "bumper" [IMG]

I just had mine replaced. It looks like they didn't put the black plastic pieces back on that go on the end of the fenders right behind the ends of the bumper. That would close the gap up.

Ok so I picked up my truck from the shop yesterday. Here's the down low. Lol
Insurance authorised a new hitch and bumper supports and brackets as well.
The hitch was not damaged like they thought. Just the supports that bolt the bumper to the hitch. So they just put all the new parts on.
Bumper sits the way it should now. Finally.
All done! Just detailed her up today!

On a side note. I have a hitch for sale. Along with some other stuff. check it out!
