Sports by far have better tires out of the show room floor for off roading... wonder why that is?

All things being equal, if the dealership had both an OR and a Sport in the lot the day I bought my truck, I almost definitely would have gone with the Off-road. I can take or leave the ornamental hood scoop, and honestly don't mind the chrome either.

All things were not equal, however, and they did not have any TRD OR in the color I wanted (magnetic grey) or with 6sp manual...so picking up a TRD Sport with the options I wanted was an easy choice.

Why don't you just paint it? All that BS about chrome not taking paint is just that BS... and even if it does chip 2 years from now just repaint it.

I painted mine using color matched paint from the internet. Followed instructions perfect, used their products only. My super white grill is now cream color. Odd thing is I used the same steps for the Toyota logo and that held its color just fine. I'm saving up for a HomerTaco grill now.

I preferred the color matched stuff and figured I wouldn't be doing that much off roading so I wasn't worried about the locker. Can always add later if I really get into some serious stuff but my truck has taken me everywhere I've needed to go. Also don't mind my fake hood scoop and personally it doesn't block my vision or anything.

As far as availability when I got mine the Sports were easier to come by than the OR's.

You can't go wrong with Craig. Ive known him for a few years and he is a great guy. I actually have his OE bumper in my backyard right now. He was nice enough to loan it to me while my aftermarket bumper is getting work done.

Same reasons I wasn't so happy to see Ben and Mike become mods. Gotta conform now copper :D

I went with the Off Road simply because it was on the lot and in the color I wanted. Plus I think the Off Road was a little bit cheaper than the Sport (someone can correct me if I'm wong on that). Eventually I'll switch out the chrome grille, but that's an easy fix! Good Luck!

Truth matters where I go. So, unless they are doing something different to the Sport 4x4s where you shop... ?

A Sport with Dunlop street tires and an open front diff. in low range will not out climb an Off Road with BFG all terrain tires and slip controlled front and rear diffs. in low range.

If you must have the silly hood scoop and painted trim, then at least perform the 4-low-trac mod and as other Sport owners have discovered... controlling the slipping on the front along with low gears will really make a difference!!

Sports come with Bridgestones and they actually work...also have sidewalls thicker then a condom unlike OR's
