    just a couple comfort items.
Here is where I chopped mine, no smell and I haven't squashed it yet however it still hits a rock once in a while, you can see the last ding there. I thought I would try cutting it there so I could retain the hanger.

Too much to list, but enough to get me in trouble. Repeatedly.
One pro is that you will avoid a rock smashing it into your quarter panel and then getting jammed on the frame when your truck only has 4,000 miles on it. Happened to a ...uh... "friend of mine" :anonymous:
As for the gases in the cab: If you have a shell and sleep in there, I would find some way to get it to exit beyond the reaches of the undercarriage, as there is going to be some build-up in there (as Ridgerunner pointed out, some fumes you can't smell). Maybe side-exit, maybe rear-exit. But definitely exit from something other than underneath. Now, if you don't have a shell, or don't ever sleep in the shell, then don't worry about it.

I chopped the exhaust on my old Ranger right after the muffler before my exhaust. Drove like that for a couple years and never had an issue. My brother's old S10 is chopped before the axle and he hasn't had issues either. I thought I read somewhere shortly after doing the Ranger that it is illegal to have the exhaust exit before the rear axle in Georgia.

I chopped mine off at the turn down after the axle about 2 years ago to avoid smashing it while wheeling. Never had any issues out of it at all.

I was not trying to offend or freak anyone out with my "possible" cons. Since mine is also chopped short, I am always aware of potential problems (mine was chopped because a previous owner cut the entire pipe out behind the cat).

While pretty much all of you have mentioned no "exhaust fumes" in the cab, you have to remember that carbon monoxide has no odor. You can't smell it. So even if you DID get some inside the cab, you wouldn't know it. While the risks are low in a pickup, it is still there. I just wanted the OP to know the facts. I was not trying to "freak out" anyone.

I made sure to chop mine square, on a straight run of pipe. That way, if I chose or needed to, I could hang the tailpipe from the stock hanger and re-connect the pipe with a band clamp at the cut.

Now THOSE would look cool on a Tacoma. Not that I would do it myself.

I hope you mean that in jest. Otherwise keep your comments to yourself. If you paid any damn attention I said they would look cool, but I wouldn't do that to my truck. That means (at least to any intelligent person out there) that I have NOT got those on my truck, so no, you didn't see me driving around.
To each his own is what I say. No need to interject your "gay as fuck" comment here. If you don't like them, fine. :brianr:

I know here in va there's laws where the exhaust has to exit to the side or rear of the vehicle. Some crap about co2 entering the cabin or whatnot

Just a little info for you, that "crap" about CO2 not entering your cab is what keeps you from being dead.

I tell ya what would be very cool IMO and I wish someone would do it-is a set of sidepipes like used to be on the old Vettes, that would exit just before the rear tires, and be protected by integrated sliders. To me this would look awesome on the longer wheelbase 2nd genner:)
