To shift into low range, you must first switch to 4hi. You may need to move the truck a few feet to actuate 4hi. To shift to 4Lo, you must shift into neutral.

On a manual you have to first shift into 4hi (green light will flash, then go solid). Then press the clutch to the floor and hold it there while you shift to L4. Try to do it in one motion or without the clutch and it won't work.

    Yes, it does suck.

agreed that it sucks, it's nice being able to get into 4lo in basically no time at all.

    A lot!
I'm with 2012PEP. Mine does the exact same thing. Works when it wants to won't when it doesn't. I called the dealership and was told that I needed to depress the brake as far as I could while having the clutch depressed and the truck not moving. So, after about 5 tries it worked. Problem solved? Wouldn't go out now. Finally, after 20 minutes or so it came out. Went right back in and then right back out. Next time? Took about 1/2 hour. I sure liked my 1994 so much better. Electronic switches suck for sure.

The stick transfer case in my rental Wrangler was also a pain to get into 4Lo.
