Get at the frame if you can. To be honest, since I cut away my front crossmember and refaced/plated the frame, I don't remember what a stock truck looks like back there. Try to get to the frame, and don't weld tube directly to the frame (weld tube to a plate, then plate to the frame).

The picture is a reflection of my piss poor paint skills, but you get the idea:

That's kind of what we were thinking of doing.

Do you think I should remove that lower grille plastic or try to run the supports through it?

Go through it. Dremel out whatever you need to for clearance

So, a little update. I finally got around to finishing the bar. Rattle canned it black. I added some supports that go through the lower grille and mount to the frame and now it's totally stable and doesn't shake at all.

I haven't got any pics of it lit up yet as one of my headlamp bulbs is out and it looks weird without all 6 lights on.

BTW thanks for the advice, I did exactly what you recommended.

    Hehe. Good shit. Good luck.

Pic whore a bit in your thread, sorry.

    My custom front tube bumper

Working on a TireGate at the moment.

You can see the stupid custom rear bumper as well in the above pic. Bumper sucks. Be re-doing it after the tiregate and lift are completed.

Been a hell of a learning experience for me.

Nice! I see what you mean about the rear bumper. But hey, you gotta start somewhere. Plus doing it yourself I feel is better anyway, then no one else has anything like it. Anyone can drop $300 bucks and slap on a pre-made bumper (not that there's anything wrong with that).
