Today I had the opportunity to help my friend move a mattress. Like they say... get a truck, and gain 10 friends. So I strap the mattress down real tight with a ratchet strap. One of them seem to work just fine as we were only going right up the street. Well we get to his house and I decide to back up right to his front steps of his new apartment. Now mind you I do like to wheel my truck pretty good, but as anyone that truly loves the same beautiful Toyota Tacoma as I do mine, you look before you back up into any spot. I take a good look and then proceed to back up into the spot. The truck starts to move in reverse and WAM!!! I feel a very small roll of the body and hear glass fall to the ground. My right foot slams the break pedal until the truck stops. The glass sound settles and I put the truck into park. So I step out of the truck to find out that I ran over the excess strap that has untied itself and was gliding ever so gracefully across the 115 degree blacktop. When I put the truck into reverse i ran over that excess strap and it pulled tight against my tail light and shattered it into a million pieces. Here is what I found when stepping out of the truck...

I would like to thank my buddy Chuck for helping me piece back a shattered tail light in the middle of a 115 degree day in the blazing sun. I would also like to start sponsoring Band-Aid and Super Glue!! If You Ain't 1st Your Last!!!

Any idea of the healing time of the lens? Did the Dr. give any ideas as to if there will need to be furture surgery?

They said he will make it thru this. Just needs some rest and a few threads of TW to find a new light. Might just need a few days to relax and wait for shipping.

Yea. It sucks. This is the first time I damaged my truck and had to replace a body part.

Speaking of which... Before I start another thread, if someone reads this and has a spare tail light. I have cash.

I am just glad I found most of the pieces. It will stay until I find a new one or someone has one that reads this thread.

True. But I have a satoshi on its way that needs to be paid for and sliders that are about to be ordered. I just need a left side for now. If I do upgrade anything its going to be 2012 sport mirrors.
