I do have an Off-Road model with a hook on the passenger side and a loop on the driver side.

I see your point though, that a clevis mount might be more secure (possible safer with a jerk strap that can't come loose)

Looks the same and I'm sure it will be. Only thing changed will probably be how it mounts to the 2012. I doubt they'd spend a ton of money redesigning a bumper for a tacoma that has a nose that didn't change much from the previous years. Don't get too excited.

I too wish they'd make a rear bumper for us.

Tow hooks are dangerous and the loop is a tie down not an extraction point.

ARB needs D ring mounts like on their old bumpers. Simple as that.

Is there a way to bolt a suitable mounting point for a clevis shackle to the factory frame?

Is there a way to securely weld D ring mounts to the ARB bumper?

There was a guy selling a 1/2" plate that bolted to the same holes as the Offroad hook, but thats only 2 bolts. IMO 2 bolts is not nearly enough should you really need to get tugged out. That said welding one on would be the best option IMO if you have an ARB.

To all the guys saying the Offroad hook is good....I have seen a few bend and one totally get a guy stuck on a log when it dug in and wouldn't move.

I'm sure you could weld something to the ARB, but who knows if the ARB can handle it. While it is a sturdy bumper thats out of design not material. The material has to be 1/8" at most so if you simply added a D ring mount you had better thought real good about it and added some supports tying it back to the winch plate or something very strong.

ARB just needs to come up with one on the new models. I would of bought an ARB if it had D ring mounts up front, but it didn't so I had to wait months for a custom one.

    Thanks for the reply.
So, you had ARB weld them on?
Did they use a backing plate or some other reinforcement?

Sorry - I wasn't to clear with that.
I opted to go with a Relentless bumper because it had d ring shackle mounts.

ARB won't customize anything for you - it's all off the shelf stuff.

Also if anyones looking at getting an ARB I sure hope your good with directions and hundreds of bolts/screws/washers. I was totally amazed at the sheer amount of hardware required to put one of them together when I helped a buddy last year. Check out their install instructions before you buy it.

If I could do it over and the ARB had D ring mounts I would get the ARB. I like the look and the design from an engineering standpoint.

    Ahh...see.

Good heads up on the install. Sometimes I like a puzzle, sometimes not so much.

Can you do most of the assembly by yourself?
I might be able to find someone to help lift it to bolt on. But that would be the case with any bumper.

The only time you need a second hand is when your mounting it.

I would also reccomend masking off the lower section of your truck and giving it a quick blast with some black spray paint before install. It looks much better when you don't see anything between the bumper and truck.

Well since the grill, the fenders, the XM antenna, the dash, the radio, the blue tooth, the UHA and DHA, and off road package are all different; what else would you expect. Anyone having a 2012 and are eager to mod their trucks are interested in these updates on when stuff is available. I agree with jprovence that there should be a sub category like 2.5 gen or something. The 2013s will also fit in this group since the only difference between the 2012 and 2013 will be 4 wheel disc brakes, all will have entune, and there will be on sport package but a limited package.

As for the ARB bumper, the e-mail I received over a month ago was that ARB USA had received the 2012 bumper and was testing it in July. No word on availability or production.

Enzo, perhaps I should have said "rumored" 4 wheel disc brakes. I do not have anything to back that one up except that is what I was told from someone who may or may not be involved in the development of the 2013 and may or may not be working with Ford on a hybrid for a later year release. In any case that is what I was hearing.... but as you pointed out, it is not commonly known and therefore a rumor. Thanks for keeping me straight.

I think you 2012 guys should be jelly of all pre 09' trucks IMO.

The differences between a 09' and 12' are comparable to the differences between 05' and 08'.

Just because some electronics changed along with the grill doesn't mean this forum needs to get bogged down with DB's looking for "whats this 12' look like with 33" tires"

It gets old after a while. It's the same basic truck with minor body mods and a whole lot of added electronics I could care less about.
