I was never a fan of those body style Jettas, but, I like that one. I like it a lot.

Congratulations on the new car OP. I am a big TDi fan. I have several friends with TDi's and they all love them.

I spent a month in Europe about 15 years ago and rented diesels while there(7 passenger Renault Espace Minivan getting 35mpg fully loaded!).
Since then I have owned 2 Beetle, 1 Jetta, 1 Jetta Sportwagen and an A3(all TDI of course). My mom(79) just got a new Jetta Sportwagen a few weeks ago with my prodding as well.
The Vdubs are great but unfortunatley the build quality is not too good. My mom's new Jetta had 4(!) things wrong with it on delivery!! My Jetta Sportwagen filled with an inch of water the first day I had it(rainy day and an unsealed windshield from the factory)!
At first I just could not justify the added cost of the A3(Audi attention to detail and quality) as compared to the Jetta Sportwagen. But after owning both I can tell you that the Audi is surely worth the extra dough.
Still wondering why they wont give us(US market) a stick and quattro though:mad:

    Enjoy your Jetta!!
I still can't believe that Toyota makes millions of HIGH carbon footprint Prius' and brings no diesels to the US.
    UNBELIEVABLE!

I had a dark blue 04 1.8T. I spent so much money on that thing it wasn't funny. It was a very fun car though.

Diesels were the way to go in Europe. I rented a Ford Mondeo diesel with a six speed to drive from Kaiserslautern Germany to Vienna Austria. With four adults and all of their luggage, we were getting mid to high 30's the entire way.

If I were ever to get lucky enough to get stationed over there again, I would buy a TDI wagon here and bring it over with me.

I live about 5 miles from the VW plant here in mexico which I think supplies most of the cars to North America (I could be wrong). As you can imagine they are all over the place. I can tell you that ive been down some nasty roads, not by tacoma standards but definitly not the roads youd take a car and i see these damn jettas, passats and others just cruzing along. They can take a beatting.

On another note there is a vehicle that might be of interest to everyone here on TW. Not that youd replace the taco but if you like trucks youll find these interesting. Some of the state police units use these and they have 50cal machine guns mounted to the top of a over sized rol bar. its pretty cool. these trucks are tacoma sized (mid-size)

The Highlines are 28ish before taxes. Add 10% and some options and you creep over 30.

I'll post pics when I pick it up next week.

Congrats! Wife & I bought her a 2012 VW Jetta Tdi with 6 speed manual. We just passed 10k miles & love the car. The torque & fuel mileage are awesome. We have been keeping track of the mileage & overall is 42.1 city/highway. Thankfully I got to keep the Tacoma.

Might as well just off me now then, maybe some of the
Mods should read through that code of conduct too, can't make fun of a vw Jetta, but take all the stabs you want at Canadians right? You guys can't even follow youre own rules, so suck it.

How were you making fun of the Jetta? Were you being mean again? Oh and by the way, it's not necessary to practice "death by mod". You know you don't have to log on, right? But why do that? Why can't you just be nice and stay here?

I know. Someone's hella crampin' yer style.

Love the new TDI's! I came over from the euro scene, sold my B6 S4 Avant to get my Tacoma. Damn I miss driving that car...
