What exactly are you trying to accomplish? Is this a drop for looks, how much drop, do you still need to tow/haul afterwards, etc?

    Welcome to TW!

The 3-leaf springs will go flat and reverse on their own over time.

Your buddy probably meant put the leaf springs under the axle instead of over. That will drop you a lot more than 1/2". Honestly, for that short of a drop, just throw a couple 50 lb sand bags in the bed. You'll have a hard time finding a lift that will drop you by only 1/2" in my opinion. You could get to messing with shackles but they will wear out your leaf pack in a hurry. Another option would be a custom leaf pack setup whether it be spring over or spring under axle but that would run you in the $500 range.

BUCKLE UP! It makes it harder for Aliens to pull you out of your Truck.
Pre-loading the springs will make the truck ride better, too.

What about a custom block setup?

What do you have? 4x4? Prerunner? 5-lug?

If you have a 5-lug, switch to the stock 4x4 springs. That'll give you between 1/2 and 1 inch drop.

How would the addition of any type of block lower the rear?
