This is it. I will experience it every time I go from R to D. From R -come to a complete stop, shift into D and wait a second with your foot on the brake. Does it still do it?

My current truck is a manual, but my last Tacoma was a 2005 automatic, and it never did this in the 120,000 miles I had it, FWIW.

I had the tranny TSB done on my '09 and it lags from reverse to first on occasion , I also later had the brake override recall and pedal chop

This also happens to me. I notice this more when at a long stop light. I place the transmission in neutral the and as the light turns yellow before my turn to go, I shift in drive. The truck starts to move. But, is moving slowly (it dosen't respond with the pedal) then it leaps forward snapping all our heads back. I think OZ may have a point it could be in the throttle system. I took it the dealer, and they test drove the truck, they were unable to duplicate my lag issue. I can't remember if they did a reflash. But, this still happens but not all the time.
