I saw that the 1/2" one comes with the longer studs but couldn't find the studs by themselves.

I think you can get longer studs seperately at Wheelers

Motion ratio. Look at the lower control arm as a lever. The lower balljoint is about twice as far from the frame pivot as the shock mount. Thus 1/4" lift on the shock is about 1/2" lift at the tire.

Think your Taco lean is only 1/4"? Unbolt the swaybar and find out how much more lean there is.

    thanks

    I kinda understand it now.

I am mechanically inclined...but a carpenter/cab maker & home builder. I understand geometry well. but, auto engineering is not my strong suit.

I went and remeasured several times...and the drivers side is exactly 1/4" higher than the passanger. from ground to fender it's 34-5/16" drivers side...and 34-7/16" passanger side. I also checked from center of hub (approx.) to fender, shows the same 1/4".

    So...

if I understand correctly, I'd need an 1/8" shim. hardly worth it.

anyone else have a 1/4" "lean"?

I may have the 5100's installed...and front end allignment...and see where she sits.

    thanks again.

Just take off the sway bar, add .25 spaced and call it a day. :)

Your actual lean is more than 1/4", but the swaybar is masking some of it. Add a 1/4" spacer and you will likely level it out left and right. You can temporarily unbolt the sway bar to check actual lean, but I don't recommend removing the swaybar permanently unless the truck is mostly used off-road. Handling suffers too much, though ride will improve slightly.

why would I want to remove the sway bar?
    thanks

I'm gonna order the 1/4" shim from toytec. and give it a try along with the 5100's.

I wouldn't. They almost never solve the issue.

FWIW, I have .75in of preload on my passenger side coilover, and 1.25in preload on my driver side coilover, to level the taco lean. The coils are 700lb coilsprings, meaning the difference in spring stiffness in these two setups is significant.

If it were the typical 2:1 ratio of coilover adjustment to ride height, this difference would suggest I have a 1" taco lean. I don't. It was about 1/4" at stock.

My theory is that this is a weight distribution and has to be solved via spring rate, not coilover spacing. If you stick a spacer on top of the coilspring, it's just going to compress the spring more until it becomes stiff enough to hold the load up.

I'm interested in what happens...let us know if you have any differences in your after measurements.

    Independent FRONT Suspension.

can the lean be adjusted with the 5100"s alone?

The stock driver's side coil is longer than the passenger's side coil, to compensate for the taco lean somewhat. Because you got coilovers with identical springs on both sides, you needed to crank the driver's side more.

If the OP gets 5100s but keeps the stock springs, he will probably level out with the spacer. If the OP gets OME or Eibach springs (popular combo), the 1/4" spacer won't be enough.

Mine looked identical...how big is the difference? like 1" or 1/4"?
