I removed and color matched my emblems. Hated the chrome and everyone is doing black. Really like it, they kind of disappear and show up again depending on the light and angle. Havent seen anyone else with a pyrite and color matched badging yet. Sorry to add another option.

I found a way that was a little quicker than the way I read. I had my wife hold the hair dryer to heat up and I went right behind with fishing line. Then while it was still warm I rolled the residue off with finger. I used bug/tar/tree sap remover to finish up.

You can order the paint from automotivetouchup.com. I tried to include a link for you, but their server is down for maintenance. They were quick and easy to order from.

Do a search and you can find good instructions on removal and re-application. Mark the locations with blue painters tape before taking off if you are re-applying. I took them off, scuffed them with a scotchbrite pad, 1 coat of adhesion promotor, two coats of base, and two coats of satin clear. Biggest pain in the ass is putting them back on. Get the 3m trim adhesive tape and some sharp exacto blades. Apply tape in one strip and use the blades to carefully cut around letters (this method doesn't allow dirt to get behind letters)

It is basically an all day job, but it is a pretty cheap mod and it looks good.

I agree here too if your into leaving a sticker on the bedside. Shocky has lots of options with different colors that match better with your color. I thought I was going to paint a few black and put back on, but just liked the clean look without in the end. But with your color, blacked out badges look great IMO. You can actually order factory painted black Badges for the Xrunner in two shades of black.

The truck definitely looks much better all naked IMO! When i peeled those bedside stickers off and showed the dealer, the manager was quick to tell me those stickers are worth $150! I wish i could say that actually suprised me. lol

Start slow and take off badges as desired. Reading this thread yesterday, I followed the simple instructions given everywhere here on the site and removed the T0YOTA on the tailgate, above the TACOMA badge. Took only moments. I removed the small amount of residue with a few very light wipes of 'Goof Off, then waxed.

So take off one badge, live with it a week, and decide which ones, if any, to take off next.
