Easier Fix for Blower Motor Squeak!?

    The chirp is a brush alignment issue. W-40 will be a short term fix. A little lube on the bearings helps also. But the real fix is re setting the brushes when you install the metal motor end cap.

    Can you provide a link to "this other thread"? Cant find it but would like to understand better how to adjust the brush screws (if that's what you're referring to).

    The thread I used no longer has the photos in tact, unfortunately. This thread is a pretty in depth look at the blower motor assembly. If you look at the second photo in this thread, you'll see the bottom of the blower motor assembly and the 2 set screws. Or, you can go whole hog into this repair and completely disassemble and repair.

    I know this is a 10 year old thread, but I have to respond to this. WD40 was designed to be used to safely flush water out of electrical motors and other components.
    It is not a great lubricant however. But used inside an electrical motor probably isn't a bad choice for a temporary fix.
