I have a 2012 Tacoma TRD Sport v6 4x4 double cab long bed , I really want this in a 4 banger , just a preference, Should I keep what I got or trade down to a 4 banger TRD extended cab 4x4?

Can some of you tell me your experience or should I just keep what I got and deal with less MPG? I have been kicking the ideal on a Rav4 AWD as well better MPG.

    Thanks.

The highest trim you can get in a 4 banger is SR5. And you wont get a Double cab in a 4 cylinder unless you drop the 4x4. The closest you can get to what you want is a Sr5 access cab 2.7 4x4.

Don't. I had both, and the difference in MPG is insignificant.

I depends on how you drive. You can get up to 21 in a v6 but you can get up to 25 with a I-4. At least thats what i have seen in my research. It a depends how you drive.

Are you upside down? If its a 2012 you are probably going to take a pretty big hit so is that worth the slight saving in MPG. How long would it take for you to make that back in gas savings. Also I just purchased a 2012 V6 in June and I test drove the 4cyl. Personally I thought it was gutless. No offence to the 4cyl guys but my trade in vehicle was a 09 Mustang GT that was far from stock.

Did you lease or finance the vehicle? Either way if you do chose to trade it in you better be prepared to bend over. The chances of you coming out ahead in this deal is pretty much zero. Like others have posted the MPG saved wouldn't be much of a savings once you take a loss on the trade-in value of your truck. Yeah! It's still new, but it's not on the lot and now it's considered used by the dealership. If I were you I would suck it up and keep the truck, in the end you're going to be happier. It just sucks that you figured out what you wanted after buying the truck and not before.

First time I've seen a thread looking to go in this direction, since it's usually the other way around.
