I don't think he's saying it's underpowered so much, but compared to other V6's that are out there it could be better.

As far as speed, I think mine is pretty quick. On take off anyway. It's just as fast on take off as my Hemi Ram was. But at hwy speeds the it won't hold a candle to the Ram.

2013 isn't even here yet, why are we worrying about 2014 models?

But compared to what other V6 in the same class? The Ecopoop is not in the same class.

I say Toyota should focus on economy and leave power where it is at.

Well the Frontier/Equator does have a bit more power. But I see all these V6's out there that make more power, just don't know if they would have the torque needed for a truck. Like my wife's Accord, 272 hp V6. That's just one off the top of my head.

IMO Toyota could do a number of things to get more power for the Tacoma but they don't need to, it sells to well already, especially with the domestics dropping their small/midsize trucks. I don't know if that's where he was going with that, but that's my take on it.

I work at the factory on the assembly line and have not heard any of these RUMORS. I think we assembly line workers would know, because you would have to add more equipment for these changes to occur. Guess the OP and some sales guys have the inside skewp. Guess I can look forward to learning to install some new parts in 2013-2014. Oh by the way, I did hear that the 3rd gen Tacomas would come standard with a larger Flux Capacitor. That's really all I can say without getting in trouble.

My uncle has a 08 Accord with the same engine. Yeah it makes more power and hauls ass in the car but no it wouldn't make a good truck engine. The Ridgeline doesn't have that much power because it gave it up for some torque. The 3.5 in the Accord doesn't matter though since it comes in the Accord.

The Fronty/Equate may make more power but the truck is slower and I think torque in higher in the rev range.

Anything could be made better. Hell Toyota should be ashamed. The 4.0 in the TVR makes more power and torque than the Taco 4.0.

There are zero places to off road within a 6 hour radius of me. Should I have bought an OR instead of a sport? For me, buying an OR would be "f**king stupid". Would it make more sense to pay extra for OR stuff that I will never ever use, or for color matched everything and a better looking truck in general?
