Guys, this is a SAD day. I know this is a Tacoma forum, but my engine is the same most of you guys have.

Last friday I drove to Miami, the truck started to make a noise in the engine, like a CLAP CLAP CLAP, but was barely noticeable. I spent like 2 hours in miami and then I found myself driving back to Lake Hart, a few minutes after leaving miami the noise became extremely hard, called a trailer and hauled the truck to my home.

I didn't have enough time to have a mechanic see my truck, but this afternoon I connected my techstream in it to see if I could see any DTC's or some kind of indicator that could tell me what was wrong.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z-LwHXksO_I&feature=youtu.be

it would be the last one I could record with my truck engine on. Like 20 seconds after the video, the crankshaft broke into pieces and destroyed the engine block into like 100 small parts. Oil and coolant everywhere and there's a HUGE crater on the side of the engine...

    I don't get it...

This truck had all its services at the dealer, it never had any issues before. 98K miles in it. What could have happened?

Guys, this might not be a right time to review a toyota because I don't feel OK. Maybe its my own experience only, this is my second toyota. 1st one was a 2011 corolla, sold with 10k miles because it already needed a gearbox synchronizator replacement (MT), now this... I'm almost sure this will be my last toyota. EVER.

Will post pictures of the damage soon. Will buy a used engine at ebay (2k $) and sell this thing right away.

Damn I did put some love to this truck.

Yea im not so sure about the 1gr reliability. The 4 banger looks like it will be the most reliable engine, but then it aslo has less to go wrong.

So you supposedly have a Tundra that blew it's engine, and you decided to take the time to create a brand new user ID on a Tacoma forum JUST to tell us about the blown up Tundra?

    Color me skeptical.

I'm not saying it didn't happen... but I'm smelling an agenda.

OP, can you provide us more details? Length and Miles you've owned the vehicle for? Did you tow? Accidents? I'm personally abusing the shit out of my engine s/c's and with other performance parts. So far only had a valve cover leak, which when I pulled out the factory gasket I could see why, it was a bad mold. And even that didn't start leaking till I was over a 100,000 km's.

Yeah but that could be from JiffyLube since he has white oil filter which is for sure non Toyota filter. Hmm you think that may blew the engine:D up.

True true... This might be the first video-documented engine failure due to a Fram-produced filter.

Tundra has always been available in V6 and V8.

They started putting the 4.0 in the Tundra's back in 05 with the old body style.

Ya... the vid appears to be in a driveway, and I suppose the towing driver could have placed it there....

I dont think its FRAM filter. Its wierd filter with almost no marks on it. Flat top makes it look like its Diesel fuel filter. I use similar filter on my furnace.

The Jiffy Lube filter is a plain white case just like that one.
It is made by Fram (as well as MicroGuard, Pennzoil, and a few others)
