Thinking of getting a 2012 DC Tacoma - Should I Trade my 09 DC or sell it?

    Haha, something like that. You usually get more if you sell privately - typically somewhere halfway between trade and resale value, but then you lose on the tax as mentioned above, and you have the hassle of dealing with the private sale which can be time consuming, and most advertisements in newspapers etc. cost money. You also have to wait for a buyer, so you might miss a good deal at the dealer - end of the month sale etc.

    I usually just trade and get it done with. However, make sure you negotiate good - aim high and stick to your price.

    Just worked out what I think is a smokin' deal on my 07 DC SB Sport 4x4 at Bobby Rahal Toyota myself. Went with a 2012 base model and that has almost all the same features as my 2007 TRD Sport.
