Hi, Everyone I am finally getting close to buying a new Tacoma. I am hoping to pull the trigger at the end of August or possibly end of September. I am in no immediate rush as I have a DD but would like to trade in my v70 before the weather turns. I have read the differences and it doesn't affect me. I would like to have the 2013 for possible resale value difference, but that's about the only reason. Does anyone know the release date on the 2013's? That might help answer my question.
Thank you in advance for any positive posts!

X2. 99.9% that the 2013 is going to be exactly the same as the 2012. Might as well buy one now and start enjoying a quality truck sooner.

since you're so close and probably not going to buy until the 2013 is available, it would make sense to get the 2013. If you can strike a deal for a 2012 that would beat the depreciation that would be assumed by taking a year old (model wise) car off the lot, than that would be the way to go.

Usually you start to see the new years model in the fall. I'd say if you can find what you like in a 2012 you might be able to get a good deal at a dealership trying to clear the lot. That being said I bought a 2012 in December of 2011 but I really liked the upgrades so I went for it.

Thanks for the reply Monkey, that's a pretty good reasoning on both sides and did not consider a 2012 at a really good deal eating up the depreciation cost.

I agree. You'll still be able to get invoice pricing on the '13 just won't get the $500 rebate. At this point, I'd wait if you can.

TruKnight_ sorry "Settle" was a bad word choice on my part. One does not simply save for years to settle on a Tacoma.

    Anyone know 2013 release date?
and or what date they released to 2012 last year?

I'd go 2013, think about resale value if you ever want to upgrade/change.

The reason to wait is resale value and possibly any kinks being worked out.

How much more is a '10 worth compared to your '09?

So far, I have only seen that the Sport package will be dropped for 2013. Not scheduled for a refresh, as the front end just got one.

Start shopping. If you find a heck of a deal on a 2012 with everything you want, grab it. Only a month before the 2013s start hitting dealer lots. So take your time and enjoy the test drives and salespersons!

From everything I have read, the 2013 is going to be extremely similar to the 2012, so the truck itself is going to be pretty much the same thing. Which means you are going to pay a premium for the title "2013" instead of "2012". If you plan on driving it until the wheels fall off (or for at least a decade), go with the 2012. You can get it now, and it will be a bit cheaper.

If you plan on reselling in less than ten years, wait for the 2013 b/c it will probably have resale value high enough to recoup your additional money now. Your future buyers will consider it a year "newer" than the 2012.

Anyway, that was my thinking. I just bought a new 2012 b/c I have never kept a vehicle for less than 12 years and I figured the truck is for me, not some hypothetical future purchaser. This way I was able to get it a couple of months earlier and probably saved about $1000-$1500.

By that same logic, however, if you're gonna be putting a lot of miles on it, a 2012 will appear to have less miles/year than a 2013 will ... which could make a difference if you were planning on turning over a lot sooner, say in 3 to 4 years. This is just my personal perception though.

it's highly unlikely anything will change for 2013 since the Tacoma just got a facelift and interior refresh last year. You are going to get the best deal right now as most dealerships want to move their old inventory to make room for the new.

There will be a Limited option for the 2013 which comes on the double cab model. Chrome mirrors, handles and fog light bezel. That's about all
