Why would I trade it in before it's repaired?

    save time & greif

you may never be happy with the repair as extensive as it will be.

dealers do it all the time.

I did it on a Chevy Z71 and negotiated myself a pretty good deal.

believe me, the dealer can fix it for a lot less than you would pay (with the other guys check I assume)

pocket the damages check or forward it to the dealer toward the new truck.

He is saying take the insurance money and the vehicle into a trade. Dealer can get the parts at wholesale and repair it cheaper thus making it a deal for them. It's an option.

Insurance owes actual cash value so used, remanufactured or aftermarket parts can be legally owed.

Just my two cents. Good luck man.

This is a shitty deal.. I would go after the person that owns the truck that hit you. It is the owner of the vehicles responsibility to go after the driver. Just because some one else hit you.. (I'm sure they don't even know who it was.) It is not your fault.. You are the victim, not them.

Go to the police and get the owners info. It is your right as the victim!
Your the one out a truck. Then I would go after the girls in small claims court. Make them pay your decidable and any other fees. Go for the full 5k allowed in small claims.. The worst that could happen is the judge mitigates the amount. Don't let the two drunk bitches get a way with that crap.

Believe me, this is exactly how I feel. I've been on the phone every day since the accident with the police dept. They refuse to give me the other vehicle owners info until the report is finished

As for turning it into a crawler, no can do lol. This is my daily driver and toy hauler.

1.) Get an independent accident appraiser.

2.) Ask your insurance company reevaluate the damage.

3.) get a second opinion on the repair of your truck. A place in an high priced part of town.

4.) you can have them give you the pay out by telling them you will do the repairs your self. do the above items first

Ask the cops to pay for your rental car until they give you the police report.
(Don't do the that's a joke).. Don't call the department, go down there. Ask to speak that a Sargent. Take pic of your truck with you and explain your situation.. They are more likely to help you in person.
If you are working through your insurance company do the stuff I said above.

the ins co will pay the value of the repair.

you can have the repair done then trade...

or trade as is, and apply the insurance check towards the deal on the new truck.

it's about the same in the end. saves you time and hassle.

and, if you are a decent negotiator...you can actually do well.

Actual cash value of the vehicle if it's totaled.

Actual cash value parts to repair if repairable.
