anyone not running fender flares?

The one with the bed cage is "NwiTaco", and the truck with the bobbed bed /tube is "no mods"

After some fluke trail damage from a tree branch that I rolled over and got sucked up by my tire, I had my flares taken off the back and my bed sides pulled out a few inches to better match my front glass. They just welded up the holes. It only cost $200 more than it would have to just replace the one damaged side.

5- lug Tacoma fenders+bedsides should be a direct swap on any Tacoma. No flares and no holes.

 

Yep but dont wanna spend money sinceI already have the bedsides and fenders.

 

I bet you could swap fenders/bedsides with a 5-lugger for free. plenty of people want those flares.

 

Maby the holes could be filled with something like bondo? Sanded down, and then painted to match?

get some clear vinyl, spray it with colormatched spray paint, and stick in over the holes, tada!

 

I know they all have flares. But have you taken the flares for the fenders off yourself? We've taken the flares off the boxside on an xrunner and there are no holes in the boxside and no clips on the flare to go into the boxside. That's why I'm wondering if the front fender flares will maybe be the same and not have any clips on the flare or holes in the fender

 

By the looks of it, you're correct.

 

Thanks. I had a body shop do it. They pulled them out a few inches and welded an extension between the support bracket and the fender on the back side. I'm really happy with the results.

 

Well now, if you had a high clearance bumper, you wouldn't need to worry!

Yea they did a good job! I am getting glass n the front and pulling out the rear seems way cheaper and easier than buying glass for he rear as well.

 

Heres a pic of mine without the flares. I like the look. It will work until I get glass.

 

^^ nice piece of info. By the looks of it the easiest but not quite the cheapest way would be to get fenders from a base taco or xrunner. And maybe stock boxsides too. Would just have a lot of painting to do. I know the xrunner boxsides won't work because they have clips holes for the lower mouldings.

 

Haha. Except I think they're ugly IMO. I never even put back on the side pieces. The damage gave me an excuse to make it better!
