The 09 Access Cab Sport I bought a few weeks ago was in pristine condition.

Now, this is my fault - with only about 24,000 miles, I paid little attention to the tires. Not good planning there.

Washing it carefully this weekend, I noticed irregular wear on the outer tread of the two front tires. I don't know what brand was originally on the Taco when sold new, but the tires on there now are Dunlops but the warranty booklet still inside the owner's manual is for Goodyear.

I've contacted the guy who sold me the truck asking, basically WTF is wrong with the wear on the tires? Likely not the original tires, or they weren't rotated properly.

My question (finally!) is if he agrees to replace the tires (which based on my being a long-term customer), he's likely to do (or at a significant discount), what do y'all think caused this wear? I'm not sure of the mechanical term(s)...camber...toe-in?

Truck drives straight...doesn't appear to be out of alignment.

    Thoughts? Thanks.

Some stuff. Not a lot, just some.
Too much postive camber would be my guess.

If you haven't rotated the tires, that's going to happen. The wear on the outside edge is from cornering which is why you should rotate your tires every 5k miles.

Also, those tires don't have a lot of life left in them anyways. They're going to need to be replaced within the next 5k miles most likely (maybe 10k if you're lucky and don't have to go through winter with them).

I got my first 4x4 in 1972...haven't been without one! I still like Chrome!
Could be low tire pressure, not rotating, alignment.
    or a combination of all.

Its likely to much positive camber causing outside edge tire ware, conversely, negative camber will result in inside edge ware.

Go get it aligned. If the camber is off, you know the cause and can move on, if the camber is not off you know to keep looking.

The tires look old....and ready for replacement.

I've seen 'odd' wear on old tires before.

When you buy new tires - just make sure you get an allignment done.

You could also inspect your balljoints on the a-arms.
