LOL. You are young, aren't you. I've had dozens of windshields damaged to all different degrees. It's just part of owning a vehicle, and having auto insurance. File a claim, get a replacement windshield, and feel happy about having insurance.

Now if someone shot at your truck/mom, that's a different story. Road hazards "appear" to jump out at your windshield but it's just simple physics.

My windshield cracked for no apparent reason, other than Murphy, today. I have USAA and just got off the phone w/Safelite(handle USAA window claims). They said I'd have to pay my deductible because the crack is "larger than a dollar bill". I'll have to call USAA tomorrow, when they are open, and see if I get a different response :/

Yesterday going to the dentist,on the highway a guy with a empty float that was nt cleaned properly lost a rock of about one inch in diameter, and i saw it comin my way at tremendous speed.
Result hit my left side right at the bottom of the winshield.
Man that thing hit me like over a rocket
So my wishield just broke into a spider shape,,finish!
Do you know how much this thing will cost me in deductible,500 dollars.
Our stupid government passed a new law last June in Canada because inssurance companies were charging too much for winshields replacements,so thanks again to our great leaders to have us pay more for there conclusion.
I don t understand,Man 500 dollars out the freakin winshield deductible!
I am pissed, but what can we do.We have to pay extra aparently if we want the regular deductible, which most of us don t know until it hapens.
I would have done lots of thing with 500 bucks intead of having to give it in the air like this because of some ass hole that did nt clean his float properly after leaving the job,and took the road like that.
Of course there was no way for me to take any licence plate numbers ,i was going about a 100 kilometers, and him the same comin my way.:(

That is strange, I have USAA and they did not replace mine. This was about 5 months ago. I went up the line with them above standard customer service and got nothing.
I asked if they had a windshield rider and was told the only way to get it done with no charge is to have a zero deductible.

Drove by a gentleman bush hogging next to the road when, what looked like a piece of 2x4 about 6" long hit my windshield in my 07 Camry. Loud as crap when it hit and scared the crap out of my wife and I. I was driving about 45 and I don't know how fast the piece of wood being projected out of the bush hog was going. I don't know how but it did not break the windshield. Camry windshield is at a fairly sharp angle so maybe that helped.

Maybe it's different in the US, but I don't have any deductible for glass, but I also carry really good coverage. That also includes rocks breaking my headlights/turn signals. As long as the break is bigger than a dollar bill, it's covered. Otherwise, they attempt to repair it with sealant, which usually breaks from the pressure anyways.

It varies by state laws. Here in South Carolina Glass Breakage is covered with full coverage insurance 100%. Even if it is smaller than a dollar.

    Hi Seabass
Well for us it used to be like around 250 to 300 deductible, but things have changed.
I gues that i ll have no choice soon to replace it,and just pay.
    Not much i can debate.
    Thanks again

Yeah that's a bummer. I'm sure if you paid a higher monthly premium, you could probably get zero deductible glass coverage.

That's why. You pay less than $70 a month. Likely because you opted for higher deductibles to keep the cost down.

At 56, I would expect that you have had enough driving/insurance years to know how to knock that deductible down?

And your demographic probably doesn't have as high of a density as mine, or the average car value is different where you live.

0717150820.jpg My trucks windshield got hit by, the windshield tech and I both agree, was a meteor. I used Safelite, cost me 100 bucks but the tech did a sweet job.

As i said before, they all increased there deductible for winshields replacement in Ontario Canada ,my wife which had her winshield replaced not three months ago ( same place and insurance as my tac) only paid 300 deductible on a Camry S 2013.
Nothing to do with experiences etc.

I did not go through the whole conversation if I am repeating what was already said, sorry, anyway your "Comprehensive" insurance will cover the glass.

What I'm getting it is that you say you can't get a zero deductible option in your policy by paying a slightly higher monthly premium?

I'm on either my 3rd or 4th windshield for my 08. Several more repairs in between. It happens. Sometimes the deductible and insurance is cheaper and sometimes cash price is cheaper. All state to state and insurance coverage dependant.
