I have a 08 tacoma 4 door. the tailgate lock has quit working. all the other doors seem to be working normally regardless of whether I use the key, the clicker or the two door lock switches on the front doors....

    any ideas how to fix?

    tks

Maybe a Dynolock electric. These have been available longer than the P&L variety. In any case just pull the plastic tailgate panel then check that you are getting voltage to the lock actuator on lock/unlock call. If yes, replace the actuator. If not, find the break in the wire supplying the +12v. Also check the ground.

It probably just needs to be cleaned and a little WD40 or if someone tries to open the tailgate when its locked they can bend the assembly causing it to jam. Screw off the tailgate top cover and take a look, you should be able to put your hand in and reach the assembly. Just give it a little push while you press the remote.
